A report in the dec. 5 Issue of the weekly army times quoting Anonymous army sources said the plan May include moving the Headquarters of the 1st inf div from fort Riley kan., to Germany and renaming one of the divisions there. The two divisions in Germany Are the 3rd inf div with Headquarters in Wurzburg and the 1st army div with Headquarters in bad Kreuz Nach. Army officials who have been briefing congressional leaders on the upcoming changes Over the past week declined to comment on the army times report. Secretary of the army Togo West and chief of staff Gen. Gordon Sullivan Are finalizing a plan to stabilize the Force and restructure the army in accordance with the Bottom up review " army spokes Man Harvey Perritt said. Full details of the plan could be unveiled within the next few Days Perritt said. The army times article said that even if the 1st inf div Headquarters moved to Europe its two Man Euver brigades would stay at fort Riley. They would serve As the third brigades for each of the two Forward deployed heavy divisions in Germany. If one of the divisions in Germany is selected for re flagging As the 1st inf div the most logical Choice would be the 3rd inf div since both units Are similarly configured.
