Chapel article racist i was insulted and outraged by the articles in the sunday Magazine subtitled a Reli ious style out of Africa and America nov 13. The writer s Lack of knowledge about christianity rang loud and Clear. I am appalled that the stars an stripes would publish an article that is so blatantly racist. If the writer wants to do some research on christianity and its roots i suggest he Start with the Bibl and work from there. High school Stu dents Are required to do More research than this. A couple of people s opinions regardless of their position Are no equivalent to a fact worship of Christ started in Jerusalem not in Africa. And yes it started with a great Deal of shout ing singing and dancing. It is an insult to god and Black christians to state that they were attracted to christianity because of a style of worship. It is an insult to All christians of any race nationality etc., to compare one worship service to another. It is an insult to the White members of the congregation at Johnson Chapel to be told that they Don t belong in the worship service. The article says that Johnson Barracks Chapel is a Black Church. It appears that the writer went out of his Way tomake Johnson Chapel and maybe All of christianity fit into his preconceived no Tion of religion that Black and White  ple Are different and worship differently and separately. He did t even mention the chaplain of Johnson Chapel chaplain capt Bob Schneider. Because he is White he would not have fit into the image the writer wanted to portray of the Chat Inch or the revival. He did t seem to want to Tell about a spiritual event but to exploit the event to air his views on Black americans and christianity. He presented the events an african american affair when it was actually a Christian Celebration and renewal with the lord. He should have paid More attention to the reason for the gathering not the color of the attendees. People such As this writer Are Ameri Ca s stumbling blocks to Unity and keep racism and prejudice alive. It s too bad that he did t get More out of his visit tothe Chapel than just some pictures and fuel for his bigotry. I truly Hope that the stars and stripes irresponsibility will not hinder anyone of the wrong color from attending services at the Black Chapel. For All the dust kicked up this flurry of activity is mostly just housekeeping. The changes May make the House s affairs run a bit More smoothly and efficiently and for a while More , but nobody s life will Rise or fall on this stuff. There s Little in the plan that s philosophically abrasive. Indeed democrats could have enacted most of it them selves and would have if they had marched in place so Long they no longer could climb out of the rut they had dug for themselves.
