The annual Mary Hollar memorial exceptional family member Day is september 23 at the Hanau Rod & gun club s Campo Pond. The fun starts at 9 . And lasts until 5  The Day of fishing and Friend ship is planned especially for Chil Dren with special qualities. They Are the ones that make the Effort All worthwhile. Mary Hollar started this event and was the driving Force behind its Success. Her work and dedication were essential elements in raising the awareness and participation of earlier exceptional family member events. She organized the first exceptional family members fishing Day in 1987 at Campo Pond. Her widower Fred Hollar remembers that Day very Well. _ the first year that we did it it rained about half Way through it said Hollar. And to watch these Young kids i remember this one kid who sat Over there and he had a Raincoat with this big Hood Over his head. And he s sitting there through this pouring rain watching the Bob Ber and of course the fish weren t biting. We had one kid that year that had a Trout and he walked around with that Trout for about two hours. It was in a plastic bag. It was As far As sportsmanship not the Way you Han dle a fish. But it was his every year an orphanage in Hanau sends its exceptional children for a special Outing. For most special children in Germany this is the Only time they can sit by a Pond and help the licensed fishermen. All exceptional people Are invited to attend and everyone is encouraged to Volunteer their help and support this German american event. Each child is paired with an experienced licensed Fisherman.
