Situated in the Middle of a vast area of Chalk landscape Between Salisbury Plain and the new Forest the town is a Good base for exploring South and West England especially the picturesque Village of South Wiltshire. Salisbury was built on the Grid system with each Block being named after its most popular pub. Nevertheless the town bounded on the South and West by the River Avon retains a medieval air and seems to have its fair share of meandering lanes and narrow alleyways.
