European Stars and Stripes (Newspaper) - April 22, 2007, Darmstadt, Hesse                                Sunday april 222007 scene stars and stripes Page 19 six times five with Sext plets in school overworked mom can relax Sondra Headrick melted into an oversized leather Recliner and listened to peace and quiet outside the wind was blowing hard on this tuesday inside a Man on television was telling Sondra Why it was blowing hard but she didst care it was quiet inside moments earlier a school bus had whisked away More than Haf of the Norwich preschool class More than half of the population of the Headricks Hometown of Rago Kan All on one yellow bus this happened again on wednesday and thursday five years ago on april 6 Sondra Headrick became the proud Mother of Sext plets three boys and three girls All six came out of the womb scream ing and sometimes it seems they never stopped it seems like a million years Sondra said of the births hard As it is to believe its been five years its harder to forget after getting pregnant with Sext plets while undergoing Fertility treatments in 2001 Sondra and her husband Eldon decided to forgo aborting some of the fetuses and to go through with the pregnancy that put the lives of six babies and Sondra at risk that decision was vindicated when they welcomed six babies into the family on a Rainy april Day in 2002 at via Christ regional medical Center St Joseph Campus All six were free of problems that doctors worried might come with the pregnancy the babies and the parents along with older sister Aubrianna were instant celebrities in Wichita Kan and were featured in news stories across the the times that were the hardest was the first Winter when everybody got the flu Sondra said i was the Only healthy one i was Fust thinking of one Day its going to get better till get easier the financial Burden has been heavy the first Day i was alone i Fet completely guilty about having the peace and quiet i didst know what to do i thought 1 have All this stuff to do and where do i begin i thought i deserved a Little bit of time just for Globe the cacophony of six infants growing from toddlers to preschoolers has been Joyful noise for Sondra no matter How much she enjoys quiet quite honestly it Doest get easier its just a new Challenge every Day Sondra said Shes Learned a lot about parenting i do the Best that i can in the time that i do it in not perfect by any Means i Challenge anybody to Mother seven children at one time and see How they handle it with the help of volunteers and donations Sondra has been Able to stay Home with the babies in the first year there were Days when the Sext plets went through nearly 80 diapers Sondra Headrick Mother of seven but Money Hast been the biggest Challenge honestly the single biggest Chal Lenge is gosh there Are so Many i would probably say time Sondra said not having time with Aubrianna that makes me sad time with Eldon financial is part of it too but mostly just the time time became a new luxury last a gust when Sondra waved goodbye As the six children boarded a bus and went off to preschool in Norwich Aubrianna is now in third Grade Eldon still works for the City of Wichita Sondra admitted not knowing what to do at first she had to relearn what it was like to have privacy and time to herself the first Day 1 was alone i Feit completely guilty about having the peace and quiet i didst know what to do i thought i have All this stuff to do and where do begin 1 thought i deserved a Little bit of time just for myself on Friday the six 5yearolds spent the Day celebrating their birthday around Wichita Ethan Melissa Grant Sean Jaycie and Danielle went to Chuck e cheeses for lunch took in a movie in the afternoon and then ate birthday dinner and cake at red Robin when Sondra talks about the past five years she Doest talk about the times when her sanity nearly broke i remember i once considered being a teacher now i am one to my own private classroom they really Are fun to watch together How they play talk to each other use their imagination color create and simply to discover the world around them they laugh together make up silly songs and jokes that Only they understand How funny it is they consider themselves the Best of friends i am simply in Awe she still talks about How grateful she is for everyone that helped and for the prayers they received while she was pregnant she holds Back tears when she talks about lying in the Hospital and feeling All of those prayers help her through Tough times we just took it Day by Day to get Here is a Miracle in itself a x cd 3 cd cd o in q co cd Wichita the Headrick Sext plets from left Sean Melissa Ethan Grant Danielle and Jaycie blow out the candies april 6 on their fifth birthday cake at a Wichita Kan restaurant
