A certain amount of daily exercise in the open air adjusted to the age and physical condition of the individual is advisable for the maintenance of Good health anywhere and this is particularly so in the tropics. It promotes sleep and rest improves the appetite makes one More efficient for work by decreasing the irritability of the Central nervous system and eliminating the tendency for constipation. The exercise should be a pleasant one should fit the individuals never be should never be taken in the mid Day heat. The More Satis factory forms of recreational exercise for the tropics Are walking swimming golfing mild Tennis and boating. Strenuous Tennis or any other form of violent exercise when taken in the direct Sun of the mid Day hours on Guam is simply inviting serious difficulty Ard is certain to do More harm than Good. Stren Ous exercise generates considerable body heat which when added to the heat absorbed by the body Iron the direct mid Day Sun taxes the capacities of the body s heat regulating apparatus. Such a situation would not be too bad in a climate where the air was so dry that one s perspiration could evaporate and Cool wit top efficiency. But on Guam in Case you do not get around and Haven t heard the air is humid. . Marbo personals Marbo Cpl. Jaum m.
