When prep Pickin s returned from a Little golfing Jaunt to Luxembourg a letter from Anne a former harrier at Naples who is now competing for Mannheim was waiting and she was wondering about the possibility of a championship meet this year. You May think this a funny request she wrote but do you think you could maybe Start influencing the Cross country coaches to get together and have someone hold a european finals i m a Junior this year and when i was a freshman running for coach Russ Dayton in Naples i was privileged enough to be one of the three harriers from Italy to attend the european finals held in Brussels. It was a great experience for me meeting All the other Good runners and seeing How i stood against the Best. The course in Belgium was one of the Best courses i be Ever run on. It would be great to compete in another european championship  when he called in the results of his quadrangular monday accent Mentor Flory asked if we knew of any school willing to Host a european finals and said there was a possibility that it could be held in accent. Tuesday morning Flory called Back and said everything was go at accent. Rugged Hilly course the meet will be held nov 5, a week after the Germany finals Over a rugged course with lots of Hills and lots of Sand the boys competing Over 4 Miles and the girls Over two. Plans Call for the top 10 boys and girls from the Germany regional and the top five from All other regional to compete. Flory said accent would be Able to House the competitors in gyms but that they would be responsible for getting to accent. So Anne it appears that there will be a european championship meet. You and All the other harriers in Dod eur have an extra incentive now. Best of Luck to  ports coordinator Lee Mawby said that most of the Cross country and volleyball in nation championships dates and Sites have been finalized. Spain starts the Competition oct. 14-15 at Zaragoza Woodbridge stages the  Championships oct. 22 and Kar Mursel has the Turkey final the same Date. The Benelux Andl Taly eliminations take place a is and Naples respectively oct. 28-29 and the Germany harrier regional Are scheduled oct. 29 at a yet undetermined site. The Germany class a volleyball tournament will be at Mannheim nov 4-6 with the class b action taking place the same dates at we Brucken. Wiesbaden will stage the Germany Northern Golf regional at Rhein Blick oct. 1, according to an announcement from Dodd eur sports coordinator Leo Palmer. All coaches in the Region should Contact Jim Elliott at Wiesbaden High school. Palmer also said that the Southern regional will held the same Date but that the site has t been finalized As yet. It probably will be either at Augsburg or Heidelberg. The Germany championships Are tentatively scheduled Over the Beautiful Strassbach course outside Munich oct. 6-7. The Italy finals Are scheduled oct. 8 at Naples and the Spain finals will be oct. 14-15 at Zaragoza. There Are no ., Turkey or Benelux Golf championships this year. Four prep football games did t make it to is in time to beat the monday 6 . Deadline for publication this week. One other game got Here in plenty of time but the Home coach completely neglected to mention anything about the visitors so his report was omitted too. Prep Pickin s has to rely on the Home coaches to get the reports in to us if we Hope to continue to have Complete coverage. Last year the coverage was sensational because the coaches did a tremendous Job. Only seven of the 133 games including the three playoffs failed to make the paper in time for publication. Let s try to match that Mark. Bremerhaven has played two games and won both impressively but neither report the opening game at Home and the one Las t week at Brussels was received. Coach John Hilger s Grinders have chalked up two impressive wins to Date. They have an Early season Gold West showdown game against defending Champion shape at Home this week. Other key games coming up include Hanau s invasion of is and Lakenheath s trek to Woodbridge. Tough predictions those games and the Normal traditional rivalries make for some interesting prognostication this week.
