They re Strung up in a Nice kind of Way every weekend at a German puppet repertory theater in Steinau a Small town 35 Kilometres from Fulda. Only 150 guests can squeeze into the the Ater a former 16th-Century stable on the grounds of an old Castle that once was the Resi Dence of the count of Hanau. The building was transformed into the Steinouer  in 1955. It s an Art and a business which director Karl Magersuppe has been stringing along since 1924. After Long years on the Road with travelling shows he s More or less settled in Steinau where his wife son and daughter in Law have almost As much pull As he has. The director s wife also drives a Van taking the Magersuppe troupe to perform at schools and elsewhere far from their Home in Northern Hesse during the week. Son Erie and his wife Liselotte Are just As enthusiastic about their Craft As Magersuppe himself who is proud of his col Lection of 3,000 puppets. About 500 of them Are used in shows says the puppet master who is an expert at repairing painting and costuming his fantasy figures. Performances for children Are the priority but Magersuppe & co. Also toss in something special for adults with their puppet staging of Faust. German regional television screened their easter production of the Alsfeld passion play of 1517, and they have Given guest performances in Hungary and Japan. The shows saturday and sunday after Noons at the Little Steinau theater Are nearly always sold out.
