But both were penalized one minute for jumping the Flag when the race was restarted two hours and 47 min utes late following a 10-car crash in the first Start that seriously injured Ronnie Peterson of Sweden and Vittorio Brambilla of Italy. The race was immediately stopped and when it was restarted both Andretti and Villeneuve jumped the starting Flag and crossed the line Early. Lauda s official winning times Over the 40 laps of the 3.6 mile course a distance of 144 Miles was one hour seven minutes and 4.54 seconds. That gave him an aver age Speed of 128.95 Mph the fastest at Monza since the course was changed Fol lowing the 1975 season to make it safer.
