But my personal contacts with at least 70 senators and my knowledge of the uncommitted bloc and the identities of those senators making up the uncommitted bloc leave me increasingly  about reports an Effort would be made to Send the Bill Back to a House sen ate conference committee for changes Byrd said at his regular saturday news conference that he hoped the Senate would not vote to do  the practical pragmatic stand Point the re committal of the conference re port in my judgment would probably mean no Bill at All he  majority Leader said he wants an up or Down vote on the measure and Hopes there will be no  asked about estimates it might take a week to 10 Days for the Senate to act Byrd said that would be rather out of the Norm for a Compromise worked out by a House Senate conference committee. But on a conference report of this nature a week to 10 Days would not be at All Liscomb ovulating to me he added. Up photo new vaccine available in limited quantities safer More effective rabies shots developed Atlanta up the limited Avail ability of a new rabies vaccine that gives better Protection and produces virtually no Adverse reaction was announced saturday by the National Center for disease control. The new vaccine was developed by inactivating a Strain of rabies grown in human cell tissue the cd said. Work on the vaccine began in the 1960s and although it still has not been licensed the cd said it is currently being used in human Field trials in the United states and  cd said that in addition to giving a much higher level of Protection against rabies and producing less Adverse reactions than the old Duck embryo vaccine far fewer shots of the new vaccine probably will be  shots have always been dreaded because they were painful and prolonged and caused severe reactions in some peo ple. The new vaccine according to the cd is available through the cd on a limited experimental basis. Persons May be Eligi ble to receive the vaccine if they have a serious allergy to Duck embryo vaccine Dev they do not get adequate antibody Protection with Dev or they have been bitten by a proven Rabid  cd said that for pre exposure Only persons at High risk of being exposed to rabies primarily Laboratory personnel will be considered for the new vaccine. The vaccine is now being produced in France Germany and the United states. The  vaccine is the one that will be available in this country the cd said adding that it is similar but not Iden tical to its european counterparts. The cd report on the vaccine said the Federal health Agency had collected data from physicians on 186 persons Given the vaccine. The vaccine was Well tolerated and no treatment was discontinued because of an Adverse reaction it said. The cd said that the vaccine had protected 45 people in Iran against rabies after they had been bit ten by proven Rabid animals. Similar 100 percent Success was achieved in 31 persons in Germany Given the vaccine after rabies exposure. The health Agency indicated that Only five or six shots of the vaccine will be the recommended dosage. It said the world health organization was recommending six doses of the French and German vac Cines. Dev requires 14 to 21 shots
