   European Stars and Stripes (Newspaper) - September 06, 1985, Darmstadt, Hesse                                Friday septembers 1985 the stars and stripes Page 25 outdoor adventures Heidelberg hosts Buckskin rendezvous Black powder shooters should be preparing for the exciting fall rendezvous oct. 10-13 at the Heidelberg Roc and gun club near of Torsheim. Organizers Are expecting the largest turnout Ever More Buckskin and other traditional clothing. Competition will include Rifle pistol and Shotgun events knife and Tomahawk throw and the Mountain Man run. First second and third place trophies will be awarded for each event and a special trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring Man and woman in selected shooting events. The rendezvous will Start with a fun shoot oct. 10. It requires no registration and will be separate from the regular Competition. A special Chili feed will top off the night of the 10th. This will be a total Camp Effort with All participants contributing their own Chili ingredients. Regular registration will be oct. 11 from 4-8 ., oct. 12 from 8 . To 3 ., and oct. 13 from 9-11 . Times for the events will be assigned during registration. Fees will be $5 for registration plus $2 per event payable during registration. Shooters family members and friends Are invited to attend the rendezvous and Wear of traditional Early american clothing is strongly encouraged but not required. Camping Sites will be available on a first come first serve basis for is. Tepee tents Popup campers and lean to shelters Are permissible on the Camp grounds. Cars or trucks May enter the area Only to unload camping gear. An old fashioned saturday night get together will be organized by participants the evening of october 12. It will include music singing and dancing. Every one is encouraged to bring musical instruments and demonstrate old Home skills and traditions. The 1985 v corps invitational sect shoot will be held at the Mainz Fin then skeet Range sept. 28. The Competition is open to All Levels of shooting ability it will be a non registered National sect shooting association shoot Ith six divisions based on the Lewis system which uses the Day s scores to establish the divisions. Experienced marksmen and beginners will not be competing with each other so even new shooters will have a Chance to win an award. The v corps outdoor recreation office is provid ing shotguns ammunition targets and hearing Protection devices for All participants at no charge. Privately owned firearms May also be used. Only Active duty  members assigned or attached to a unit within a v corps Community May compete. A limit of so shooters will be allowed to Register on a first come first serve basis. Registration will begin at 7 . And a safety and Range orientation is scheduled for 7 30 . There Are no registration fees and shooting starts at 8 . Football the German Ameri can football league kicks off its playoffs with four quarterfinals this weekend. Distance running the Mann Heim Community will stage three races saturday the 20-mile death run half Marathon and 5-Kilometer fun run. Start of the races will be in front of the Coleman Barracks gymnasium. Pre registration ends Friday but entrants May Register on race Day from 7-9 . Each runner May enter one race Only. Entrance fees Are $6 or 18 Marks for the death run and half Marathon races with no charge for the fun run. Start times will be 10 . For the longer races and 10 20 . For the 5-Kilomcter run.
