Commissary restrictions in Netherlands explained one of the benefits of being Slali once in Europe is being Able to travel so this past month we went to Holland for 10 Days. Like Many other military families in Europe we do not have a lot of Money so we figured we could save by staying at campsites instead of hotels and purchasing most of our food and necessities at the exchanges and commissaries in Holland. Boy were we shocked. We had no problems with the Exchange but the commissary was a different Story. When we tried to get into the Camp new Amsterdam commissary in so Sterberg we were told they needed to Sec our ration cards As Well As our . Cards. Naturally 1 asked Why. They said they needed to verify our Apo number. They could Only serve us if we lived within their Apo districts or if we had temporary duty toy orders. Our id cards Are not limited we Are Active duty and Are supposed to be served anywhere in the world i thought. I just could not believe this. I can under stand them having a Small facility and not having enough produce to accommodate All military. I know that the commissary pro Duce is cheaper for some reason than in Germany therefore Many military drive to Holland to Purchase their monthly commis sary produce. This can cause a Strain for the legitimate Holland military Consumers but if you have a leave form i do not Sec Why you should lose this privilege. Futh crore. Why can t the commissary increase its Supply to fill the demand especially when it is seasonal it just goes to show you How much Mili tary family members take their id cards for granted. There Are people who do not even have ration cards. The person at the desk in the commissary stated that now All people who want to use this commissary will be required to obtain ration cards. Some people never buy rationed items and this system seems like just one More hassle. Returning to Germany from Holland we decided to Stop at the facilities in Shinnen Holland. We figured that the commissary there was much larger than the one at sons tar Brig and there would be no problem. We got in but 1 was Given a bulletin which stated As of july 30, certain identification would be required. This included restrictions As to Apo. This system does not seem Legal and is definitely inequitable. Vacationing in Europe will become More costly and More stairwell rats will arise due to this new policy. Furthermore i Don t think this information was adequately published if published at All i request my letter be published so customers Are really appreciated the opening hours of cafes Europe s customer appreciation Days left cafes Europe employees wondering what s faster than an f-16? stronger than an Abrams tank can leap counters in a bound the answer. Our customers out to take advantage of savings offered on clocks and stereo music systems. Leedy commander cafes Europe editor s note several letters to the editor about customer appreciation Days problems Are on their Way to am is for reply. They la be printed with the responses. Appalled by rude personnel i am frustrated and appalled by the rude Ness of people whose Job is to Render a serv ice to the Public. I have actually seen people with the attitude of Why arc you Here bothering i mean these people actually make you feel that you arc imposing on them. I will give you an example. I was stand ing in an office in the place where i work. 1 was making a copy on the copying machine. There were two other people in the office. These two people worked there. Now this if. A place where people have to Call to make an appointment to be seen. The phone started ringing. It rang about five times and the one person asked the other person where the Secretary was. The Secretary had apparently stepped out. This person said she was not going to answer the phone and if it was important the person would Call Back. She then turned and left the office. The phone must have rang 20 times before it stopped that was very Rud of this person. She could simply have answered the phone and taken the person s number and had the Secretary Call her him Back or asked that per son to Call Back later when she thought the Secretary might be Back. But to simply Dis regard the phone shows a Lack of concern for her Job and for the people being serviced by her department. I feel that if people arc hired into jobs where they have to Deal with the Public on a daily basis icy should i Lucr present a pleasant and welcoming attitude 10 the per son being served or they should be fired. Ii really docs l take much of an Effort. If you were the person being served you would want courteous service. It All boils Down to treating people the Way you want to be treated. La really does t take much of an Effort to be Nice and it certainly takes less Energy than being angry and rude. If you work in a place where you have to Deal with the Public and Render a Scricc on a daily basis take a look at yourself and see if you Are being courteous. A Little Courtesy goes a Long Way.
