Trading was moderate. The Dow Jones Industrial average fell about four Points monday and added a Little Over a Point in each of the subsequent three so visions. The Dow made in Bat gain Friday climbing 11.87 to 1,3339.94. Lor the week the Dow gained 11.20 Points. Among the 2.211 nose listed issues traded advances edged out declines 982 to 947. Fears that third Quarter corporate earn Ings reports would prove disappointing re strained the Market for most of the week and much of the activity was focused on potential takeover or leveraged buyout situations. However on Friday International Busi Ness machines made its much awaited third Quarter earning announcement which at $2.40 a share met Wall Street s expectations. Ism predicted fourth Quarter ship ments would be Strong. Ism Hock Rose 2 1/8 to 125 5/8 during the week More than half of that on Friday. Composite volume for the week declined to 561,591,961 shares compared with 718,794,809 a week earlier. Big Board volume totalled 479,170,901 shares Down from 609,927,859 and 395, 214,530 a year ago. The Dow transportation Index finished the week at 647.47 for a gain of 0.23. The Utility Index was off 1.08 to 154.08. The new York Stock Exchange Compo site Index Rose 0.61 to 106.56. Standard & poor s 500-Stock Index added 1.06 to 184.28. On the american Stock Exchange the Market value Index inched up 0.01 to 222.81. Declines outpaced advances 398-326 among the 910 issues traded. Volume was 35,604,600 shares compared with 37,838.440 the previous week and 25,204,765 during the same week a year ago. Ozark holdings led the amex actives casing h to 13v .
