The government had revenues of $733.9 billion for the fiscal year in it ended sept. 30 but spent $936.8 billion. The Treasury department reported in the same time that the deficit was helped by a rare $617 million budget surplus for september Only the third monthly surplus during the 12-month fiscal car. The record figure had been widely predicted and con Gress alarmed by the growing yearly deficits is working on a plan to balance the Federal budget. The Republican led Senate has passed a plan that would Cut the deficit to Roby the fall of 1990. The Senate plan would begin budget cams in the fall of i9k7, but mouse speaker Thi Mas o Neill on wednesday urged House Senate conferees to require spending cuts this year rather than next year to Force the deficit Down sooner. He charged republicans delayed the cuts to avoid them until after the 19x6 congressional elections.
