Kimball who opened the doors of the mormon Church to Black men but steadfastly opposed the equal rights Amend ment and giving the Church s Priesthood to women is dead. He was 90. Kimball died at 10 08 . Tuesday in his hotel Utah apartment said Church spokesman Don Lefevre. He was apparently with his wife Camille and a nurse at the time of his death Lefvre said. The i2lh religious Leader of the world s 5.8 million mormons ended the Church s 140-year-old policy of racial discrimination against Black men in 1978. Church tradition starting with the selection of Brig Ham Young in 1847 is followed Kimball s successor will be Benson 86, who has been a mormon apostle for 40 years. Kimball was born March 28,1895, in Salt Lake City the sixth of 11 children of a 19th-Century mormon missionary. His Grandfather Heber c.
