Wilson Goode ignoring Calls to resign has apologized to the people of Philadelphia for his handling of the siege of the move stronghold last year in which 11 members of the Radical cult died and 61 houses were destroyed. He said he does not expect to be indicted. In an emotional heart to heart talk sunday night he said he accepted responsibility for All the actions of City government the Good the bad and the tragic and brushed aside charges that he abdicated his responsibilities As a Leader during the confrontation. It was his response to last week s condemnation of Goode by the special investigation commission he appointed to probe the causes of the move disaster. At a news conference monday Goode said that if the District attorney convenes a grand jury to investigate the Case his top aides and other City employees will be under orders to cooperate i do not feel i will be indicted Goode said monday. I do not feel there is a reason for me to be the mayor also said changes Are under Way in the police department and in the City s crisis management plans to avoid future loss of life and property in similar situations. Among the changes already made was the appointment of a new police commissioner Kevin m. Tucker who replaced Gregore Sambore. Goode said he has also allowed internal reviews of the move Case to resume within the fire and police depart ments. Both were suspended while the investigating commission finished its work. In sunday night s address the mayor subtly Over looked the commission s harsh criticism while praising its members most of them his friends and supporters for their forthrightness integrity and the 11 people died and the Homes were destroyed in a fire sparked by a bomb that police dropped on the move stronghold to blow up a Cache of weapons on thereof.
