When i said in my column several months ago that aids was a medical problem and not a punishment from god Mare than 10,000 people wrote to say " Low do you know did god Tell you. I cite this As an example of How terrified and stressed we arc becoming. No life is totally free of anxiety and ten Sion. This is part of inc human condition. Too Many of us suffer from stress that could be managed if Only we knew How. The same can be said of guilt. M Uch of the guilt i hear about from my renders is unjustified unearned. People blame them selves for things that arc not their fault. They suffer the tortures of the damned recounting the what ifs and the if onlys when in reality nothing they did or failed to do could have changed a thing. For a Long time 1 have been on the Lookout for a really Good Book that would Tell people in Plain Down to Earth Lan Guage How to Deal with these twin monsters stress and guilt. At last i have found it. Here arc some excerpts on guilt and if parental guilt can exist in the minds of happily married couples it positively thrives among the divorced and separated. So much has been written about the horrendous effects of broken Homes on children one wonders would the results have been different if a child was raised in a strained and hostile environment on stress a most effective coping de vice is to say to yourself. Evelyn i clean in sigh Oldendorf As Germany i was so moved by defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger s front Page headlines Weinberger says women too valuable1 for combat thai 1 had to write this in response. Weinberger thinks women Are too valuable what does that say about the Worth of men is the male population expendable what docs he mean. Same people who read this May think that he places the esteem and Worth of women above men but t interpret it As women being viewed As property too valuable to waste on War. You May think i am viewing this wrongly bul it is a truth thai can be found throughout history int women have been viewed As property. An example would be for those unbelievers to look up the Slat a Lory rape Law. You May think in was to prefect the Young and innocent female bul in was really to protect the property fights of inc father and thai Llic sexual Oil fuck damaged his property. I think Weinberger was absolutely Cor rect when he said either i m Loo old fashioned or something else is wrong with i am hoi surprised a this of fish Ion cd Atli nude but i am very tired of in and i think the United suited should Wake up and realize thai women Are equally Ca Pable of defending their country especially now in this in Glt Loch u orld we live in. If an individual winits to Volunteer fur the armed forces and fight if necessary i Clr capabilities based on old fashioned sexual Altti Udics it is Lime for All farms of so called pro inc tic Laws which restrict duties for women to be eliminated. The noncombat restrictions do seriously affect promotional opportunities for women in the military and these restrictions Are founded on altitudes and outdated values hot facts. Without going into historical detail women have performed in combat and have performed Well. Why not let each individual prove thai they Are capable regardless of sex and if they can t Cut it retrain or discharge. I also want to say a word about liberation that word has been so abused by those for it and against it that it makes me ill every time someone uses it women have been emancipated and liberated because of qua Islic values for men and women. The irm used today should be equal isl not Liberis. Americans believe in equal Opportunity for All. I also value the human race without re Gard to sex. All human life is sacred and if inc . Faced attack then As a 17-year air Force member i would want to fight to prefect life and the american Way of. Fife. I would not be Able la live with myself if i was forced to leave because i am Loo valuable and must be protected while my fellow Soldier Dies fighting for what we nil believe in. Women can fight too and our fighting would make a positive difference so Why make us leave at the Cost of other lives and maybe the loss of the Battle too i Pray that War docs not not require any More americans to lose heir lives bul proud to be a Purl of the military and i am proud to say i am an american fighting woman even if the american fighting code of cond Ucol Only mentions Man. Come on America Lul s grow up master sol. Diann Hunter Neubrun Csc German a Volunteer but. I m tired of being told you volunteered for the army so Don t yes i volunteered. That does not mean i have to sit still and observe or worse be a victim of the various injustices that happen. Everyone has a right not Only to discuss what they believe is wrong bul also to try to bring about a change. The people who say you have to Lake it you signed on the dolled line Are pathetically ignorant Ninno Valic and certainly not what we need to Lead our soldiers into the future. Spec 4 Jack a Sweeney Schwa Ebisch Hail Germany sex patient lauds Hospital personnel the is 1 am writing this letter to say thank you to All the personnel Al the 130th Sta Tion Hospital in Heidelberg. Upon arrival in Germany i heard horror stories about the medical treatment or the Lack thereof at the medical facilities in Europe. I was recently admitted to inc . Army Hospital in Heidelberg and can Tell you firsthand that those horror stories Are exactly that just stories. From the moment 1 entered the Hospital i was treated by professional people. I would like to emphasize the word people from the nurse in the emergency room to the corpsman on the Ward i was never made to feel like i was just another num 1 was surprised that the head of nursing and the commanding officer walk around daily and visit with the patients. The two times i was in a naval Hospital if you had visitors of that calibre you were either an extraordinary Case or you were checking out permanently. Don l get me wrong. 1 did t write this letter just because everyone there had a Bright cheery face and made me feelgood emotionally. The personnel there Are very professional and competent. The treat ment i received was second to none. In closing i would like to once again say thank it s really difficult to single out one or two people who did their Job inc Best because nil of you were great the Only drawback to meeting All of you and seeing How Well you perform your jobs is that i was sick Jeff Cowan Heidelberg general helps with mail problem after Reading my postal operation directorate s reply to a recent letter about the poor mail service the writer has received since her husband transferred from Lud Wissburg to a Ellingen t Felt that additional action was necessary. While the answer explained the various mail handling procedures and the complications of redirecting mail i do not think we satisfactorily addressed the writer s con Cerns. I want to assure the letter writer that the entire postal group s ranks Are full of dedicated soldiers and civilians who process route and distribute approximately 240 ton of mail each Day for Usa eur soldiers and family members. To ensure the Resolution of her particular problem i have directed he commander 139th postal co the postal organization thai serves her husband s unit to personally Contact her and Settle this matter to her satisfaction. The Impact on morale to both the Soldier and his family and its ultimate effect on readiness in this theater dictate first class mail service we Are fully committed to that Mission. Brig. Gen.
