Dodds unions negotiate for longer vacations by the stars and stripes department of defense dependents schools students will have a full two week Christmas vacation and one week Spring break if teacher unions agree to a school system proposal officials said thursday. However dec. 22 and 23 would be teacher work Days. They teachers would have the Opportunity to request leave on those Days if they wished Davis said. To make up the missed Days of class room instruction in december officials want to cancel scheduled teacher work Days nov. 7 and april 10. Those Days at the end of the first and third grading periods Are planned to give teachers time to prepare report cards. Dodds proposes that april 13-15 be self developmental Days f9r teachers to be used As they deem appropriate either at the school site or elsewhere Davis said. Jack Rollins. Sea executive director said his organization does not want to give up the nov. 7 and april 10 work Days. We can t afford to lose those Days for the teachers Rollins said. What we be proposed is for Dodds to make nov. 6 and 7 and april 9 and 10 half Days for students but full Days for teachers so i essence teachers would still get their two full end of marking period  he said Dodds and sea Are negotiating. We re not too far apart i think the re Cess dates announced by Dodds will probably go into effect but we re pushing hard for those half Days so teachers can stiff get their end of marking period time in. If Dodds buys our proposal we have an agreement right  Rollins said he expects a decision by monday. Representatives of the overseas federation of teachers could not be reached for comment.
