No player is better than her ability with the Basic skills and i have noticed Over the years How much those basics have improved at these Dodds Camps. It is a tribute to the coaches and especially to the athletes who arc working so diligently to improve their game Gozansky said. coach Carol Stover who coordinated the activities and forwarded he information on the Camp rated it very it attracted 50 girls and 12 coaches who were interested enough in attending that they paid their own Way to the Camp. It was the Best Camp we be had Stover said. Everyone worked very hard and i m sure thai experience will be very beneficial this fall in their games at their respective Gozansky has Long been actively involved in the development of women s basketball. She played the game in High school and in College at both Cal Poty at Pomona and Urcla and was a member of the 1970-71 american National team. The . Won the1970 world championship in Bulgaria. For the past 18 years Gozansky has been coach ing at the University of California at Riverside five of them also As men s coach and her women s teams have won three National championships finished second twice and finished third twice. She is a noted lecturer and Camp specialist on volleyball having lectured in China and Japan in addition to conducting numerous stateside and european programs. She also has served on the nation Al collegiate association and the , National advisory and . Volleyball certification committees. To me Gozansky said volleyball is the great est sport. It leaches one to get along with people work for a common goal and to confront problems immediately. But most important volleyball is Ben Abrams the los Angeles olympics had a big influence on the game according to Gozansky and she sees it rivalling women s basketball in the future. Volleyball got a great Deal of television exposure and newspaper coverage during the 1984 olympics and that has advanced the game tremendously she said Public interest which had been lacking in the past has expanded a great Deal in the last four Yean. More volleyball clubs Are being organized All the Lime and Many More people Are sponsoring teams. I predict that volleyball will Advance to the Point that Ian interest in our game will be equal to if not greater than that in women s basketball within the next few years. There is a vast difference Between the skills of the men and women in basketball and that difference is highly visible. However i Don t feel that comparison is so great concern ing skills. Besides the volleyball uniforms Are much More feminine and stylish Gozansky added football bursts upon the scene this Weekin the by Tenor when accent invades Bonn Brus Sels travels to Oesterberg and Hahn entertains shape. It became necessary to Advance the Bennor schedule a week to enable the league to Complete it schedule in time for the Champion to Battle the . Playoff Champion in the first Ever Atlantic regional playoff game nov. 7. Bennor won the Coin toss to determine the Home team this year. The . Play offs Are scheduled oct. 24 and 31. International school of Brussels which has been undefeated the last two campaigns and takes a 15 game winning skein into the i9b7 Campaign has a first week Bye. Prior to last year the Bennor and Germany a Champion met in a playoff game for the Small schools championship. However last year Dodds Germany and Dodds Atlantic officials could t come to an agreement on the scheduling and so wound up being precluded from the playoffs. The 1986 Germany playoff formal matched Ine a Central Winner against the a South runner up and vice versa with the two winners meeting in the final game. Giessen beat Vilseck and Munich toppled osterholz in the semifinals and Giessen won the title. The same format exists this season. So the Addi Tion of an Atlantic regional playoff game fills the void for the by Tenor. The Bennor is Pun of the Atlantic Region. It makes Good sense for the Atlantic Region to stage a playoff of its own. Once again Giessen will be in the spotlight.
