A called last week to say he would like to pick me up after work and Lake me to an elegant Manhattan restaurant for dinner. Of course i was delighted dressed appropriately in a simple silk shift with tasteful jewelry. A showed up wearing sneakers no sock and mismatched army fatigues the perfect out fit for cleaning the garage. I was dumbstruck there was no Way he could Possi Bly get into the restaurant be named looking like that i changed into a casual suit but still he insisted that Wego to the fancy restaurant. When i refused he left in a Huff. I Haven t heard from him since. This is not the first time this has happened to me. In fact it s the third time in six months. Why am i the one who ends up embarrassed when i m in the right grossed out in new York dear grossed three times in six months where do you find those yahoos since you seem to attract men who Don t know enough to Wear a business Salt far dinner in a Nice restaurant you d better be explicit about dress when you accept an invitation. About in name giving two Sou the ame name is a pretty Weld move. Simply Tell your son the truth when be a is abort it. Which be surely till when Tonto makes a Point of it explain that it was his hitter s idea. Families can help themselves wife says Neil month our family will be moving Back to the United slates. Ai we prepare Tor this move i find myself thinking Back Over the last three Yean and Al that has happened. It hit not been an easy three Yean. Bui we have managed to survive and even to become closer Ai family. So Many times i have heard Femilic say the army Doemel care about the three years ago i would have agreed with them. Today 1 have to ask myself if the families really can about then elves in oar Battery we have a spouse support group. This group is for the support of families spouses an troops. I have seen our commander wife spend hours contacting spouses and working at ways to make life better for our families in return the has gotten sup port from maybe eight families in the Battery. Our commander and first sergeant put out information in formation and yet so few families seem to care. It seems people would prefer to sit Home and complain rather than improve their Quality of life. I feel a lot of the problem is that the military Mem Ber does t want his or her spouse getting involved with the Battery. Why Are you afraid that something May come Back on you How can life improve within our unit if our Leaden Don t know what the problems Are life is what you make it folks if you want the right to complain then earn ill i hive Beard Parent complain about the schools and the teachers u Well As other activities for the youth and families. Where Are these parents when the school Aski for volunteers to do paperwork so the teachers can have More time with the children where Are these parents when the youth activity sports pro Grams ask for Volunteer coaches and team moms if you think it is easy working with 30 children Day after Day then you Haven t tried in where ate the parents when Little Mart gets hurl and no one can be reached to Lake him to the doctor i have nothing but Praise for our teachers. These people give i so per cent of themselves each Day to our children and in return maybe 5 per cent of the parents give their time to help these teachers. I know in Many families both parents have to work. But these Are your children we ate talking about. Our teachers and youth activity Staft Are not babysitters. We Are not Here to raise your children for you. Before you complain that there is nothing for your families or children in the Community ask yourself what have 1 offered the Community to improve the Quality of life there is a lot of room for improvement but it takes alot of help from those in the Community. I know Many families will feel like the army made us come Here. A was t our idea f fell the same Way when 1 set fool in Germany three years ago. I could t understand Why we had to be Here other than the fact we were told to defend the peace alter a month of hearing the family complain my husband shared with us something he had written when he first arrived. It has helped our family Loun de stand a lot of things and to appreciate what we have together As a family. Maybe it Wilt help other families to understand Why to Are Here and Why it is so important to take an Active part in Community life. A Constitution of mind no Man group or country has the right to take away another Man s Freedom or to crush their moment of Joy or happiness. If these things should occur then others should stand up and Stop ill no child should fear going to school and no teacher should fear the children they teach. No child should be forced to live in fear or forced to do something out of fear. No Man should be afraid to walk the Street because of the color of his Kin or his religious beliefs. No Man should be afraid to express his opinion because of those around him. No Man has the right to assume he is right because he is bigger or stronger than those around him. These things Are covered in our Constitution and that makes them Law. There Are those that fed nothing in their hearts and for them it is writing on paper. But for those that believe strongly in their hearts our Constitution is our Hope and dreams and promises for a brighter future our children Are the key. Teach them wisely love them warmly and defend them fiercely because they Are our future and tomorrow is heir s. Give them the strength and Pride that we have fought and died Forand that we so firmly defend. Give them Hope for the future that they treat life with More respect than we have. May god give them the strength to speak out against the things that Are wrong and the Wisdom to change the wrong into right. We have Learned through our mistakes and with god s help. Our children will Lake what we have Learned and put if to use. May the world someday be at peace with All its people and Ihen eed for War no longer exists. For those that feel All these things in their hearts we Are Here for More than defending the Sogl.
