The figure of 31 Airliner accidents was inc highest number since 1974 when there were 42. According to the safety Board. The Agency count an Accident whenever there is significant injury or damage. The 231 deaths were eclipsed Over the past decade Only in 1979 when 351 peo ple were kilted in aviation crashes involving major . Airlines and in 1982 when 233 people were killed.
