F you re in shape for a 15-20 Kilometre walk then you la enjoy a hike to the top of one of Germany s mountains. You need Light weight clothing Good hard sole hiking shoes and a route to the top. Take some sandwiches and soft drinks for nourishment and let he Mountain air refresh your lungs. Using a slow steady Pace up the Trail provides great exercise and it feels Good. Maps arc also available at the Center and German stores. One of my favorite trails starts just behind the the Mark Swearengen 111 general Abrams hotel in Garmisch. It leads up to the St. Martin s Hutte and on beyond to the top of the Karma Spitze. There s a Beautiful View from the top at 1,982 meters. There s a feeling of accomplishment when you touch the Gipfel Kreuz the Cross on the top of die Mountain. Then there the pleasure of putting your name in inc Book that s kept in a Small Container at the base of the Cross. From the hotel to the lop takes about four hours. I Haven t done this sort of thing for Many years. 1 guess i started Back about the summer of 1981. I be Seldom seen americans out there on the Way to the lop. Haven i the slightest idea Why so i won t make any assumptions. If you be never tried it then be assured four missing a great Opportunity and feeling. Walking to the top of those Alpine peaks is possible although they May look out of reach. You can t get to the top in 20 or 30 minutes but you can do it in four or five hours.
