Let s be fair Ann. Several months ago there was a great Deal of publicity about a worldwide search for your replacement. The finalists received a lot of cover age. Will you please explain exactly what happened so that those of us who read about the contest to replace you will not feel like morons in the meantime i too am puzzled. Your column continues to appear in our paper seven Days a week and it sure sounds like the same old Ann to me. I Don t believe anyone could imitate your style. What s the Story Wanda Pandolfo Bermuda run . Dear Wanda if you Are confused i m sure others Are too. Thanks for urging me to set the record straight once and for All. After writing for the Chicago Sun times for 33 years i decided to leave that paper and sign up with the Chi Cago Tribune. Not one word was said about retiring. The Sun times ran a contest to replace me. Keep in mind that my column is syndicated around the world and the Only paper i pulled out of was the Sun times. Every one of my 1,200 additional clients remained in place. Moreover not a single paper dropped me to take on the Winner of the Sun times contest. I have no plans to retire. My column will continue to run seven Days a week. I intend to keep on doing what i m doing As Long As you my readers think i m doing a Good Job and the Good lord Grants me the strength to do it dear Ann Landers i m. Engaged to a Man who has Many wonderful qualities. We have had an exclusive relationship for five years and have gotten along Well. The problem is that he has gained a lot of weight. He is 5-foot-10 and when i started dating him he weighed about 175 pounds. Now he probably weighs 220. Most of those added pounds Are in his stomach. His trousers Are so tight it s embarrassing. I still love the person inside but being affectionate with him is difficult. I m completely turned off by All that blubber. I m afraid that if i marry him i will find myself with a dangerously obese husband a few years Down the Road and i la end up being his nurse. He knows his weight bothers me but does nothing about it. He refuses to consider counselling because he views it As a sign of weakness. He feels people who can t solve their own problems Are idiots. I need to know How to handle this. Can you help me a woman in California dear California since the Man knows How much his weight gain bothers you he should be willing to do something about it to save the relationship. If he in to that tells you something. Give him this ultimatum get counselling and find out Why you have put on 45 pounds in five years and go on a  if he refuses Tell him it s All Over. Tommy Thompson s office in Madison and Learned that the measure was intended to place a re Striction on the visually handicapped Hunter because previously anyone could go Hunting no questions asked. The governor refused to sign the Bill because of unrelated restrictions. Whew writer seeks some help doing the chores i would like attention drawn to the building coordinators. Are there any out there who give a Damn or what is the problem i am not the building coordinator but i should have been. Every Rule this building has has been broken. Everyone does half the Job he or she is supposed do. I am the one who usually cuts the Yard. Everyone usually shuts the door and windows until the Yard is done then just like magic they reappear. When they do put Forth the Effort to Cut it they usually Cut half the Yard. Of course the Back Yard grass get bigger and then it s left for me to barrel through the wilderness out Back. It was up to us to make ourselves Welcome in the building. No one welcomed us to the area or told us the rules. We found out about the German Laws about not cutting grass on sunday after we did it. The basement is a joke. There Are broken Beer bottles everywhere for it s a teen scene. The laundry room is filled with clothes that have been there for Days. If you have time to do them you have time to remove them. Once again a Job half done. I get tired of moving your clothes so i can use a Washer or dryer. Some of those soggy clothes smell like something left there since the War. I usually have to use my Hammer and chisel to remove the died up laundry soap you leave. Needless to say you probably figured it out i do the stairwells and trash. If i Don t my family or i could slip on All the food toys or the assortment of nuts you leave me to clean up. Yes just put on my super Cape with the big son my Chest for  i Don t want a Pat on the Back because i m sick of doing it All. Sure i be complained. The coordinators did absolutely nothing. Why they Don t care and there seems to be a lot of them like this. The music blares and our floor shakes. The doors slam and the door buzzers get plenty of practice. Everyone shuts their eyes and it makes me sick. If i quit doing All this it will lower me to their level. This letter is not to All coordinators. You Good ones know who you Are. You Are the ones who care and get firm with the occupants of the building. The abuse Given to government buildings is awful. If someone out there can crack Down on them or penalize the ones who let this go on it would be Nice. It s up to everyone to do their share. If my letter sounds familiar i might be talking about you. Rossier was not Only a Dodds administrator he was a dedicated advocate for Young children. Rossier was a person who took every Opportunity to support teachers of Young children. Rossier was Sensi Tive to the important role played by parents in the education of their children and involved them in Deci Sion making. He was never above turning to the people in the Field for their expertise and advice and he was quickly recognized As a sincere advocate for the welfare of Young children. The first time i met Rossier was at a conference in Munich. He had Given up his weekend to join teachers care givers family child care providers and Early childhood program administrators in their efforts to improve the Quality of programs for Young children. Rossier was wearing a to shirt that said children a growing concern and when i first caught sight of him he had joined the Circle in a music workshop and was singing the More we get together the happier Well  the death of Kent Rossier is a tremendous loss to Early childhood educators and All those who care about children.
