I said last year that i would like to figure out a Way to Honor the football players in Italy who played the eight Man game. I also said had Italy played its eight Man game on a reduced Field perhaps there would have been some justification for recognizing its performers. This year he three Italy schools an the five cams representing them did play on a Nar rower Field. And so did the four teams competing in Spain. Despite the use of a smaller Field Many of the scores were astronomical Aviano and Zara Gaza for instance scored 70 Points apiece opening  was so much for the smaller Field creating parity reasoning. Eight Man and i a Man football Are two completely different games and there is no Way to reconcile one with he other and balance the achievements so that everyone can be judged for All Europe recognition on merits alone. When i established the rules for nominating this year s All Europe candidates i said that no player who had not been nominated by his own coach would be considered for the 1988 stars and stripes All Europe team. The is team cannot be limited to fill conference choices like the aaa coaches tried to do because there arc More players on that team than there should be on any conference list. For instance theall Europe team includes two quarterbacks and six Hacks on offence and it is indeed possible that the second Best quarterback and the fourth Best running Back in the conference might be better than any other candidates in Dodds maybe improbable but highly possible. Fortunately some of the aaa coaches had a change of thinking and did Send in individual recommendations with Complete statistics and  nominations were duly considered. As mentioned above those not nominated by their coaches were not considered. I Hope that any deserving candidates were no omitted because their coaches failed to nominate them. I have a feeling that he vast majority were nominated and i feel positive that the 1988 team is As representative As any of the previous trams. Selecting the players and coach of the year was indeed a difficult task because the Talent was there.
