European Stars And Stripes (Newspaper) - February 10, 1989, Darmstadt, Hesse The stars and stripes Page 11 dear Ann Landers i must comment on your reply to terrified and praying the woman who was afraid her sex husband was going to do some thing terrible to her and her new husband. Your advice get a re straining order was worthless. My Friend was a judge in grand rapids Mich. She received threatening phone Calls from her estranged husband who was a detective. She was Petri fied. They both knew that a re straining order in t Worth the paper it is printed on. On oct. 19, he walked into her judge s Chambers and murdered her. Outside of being armed to protect yourself i Don t know what the answer is. But there should be a Bette Law. Lansing Lansing thanks for your letter. Please read on dear Ann Landers in an Ideal world a restraining order against a per son who harasses or threatens would Stop that person dead in his tracks. But let s face it Ann no piece of paper is going to deter a Lunatic who is Seething with anger and determined to get even. I got a similar order Here in Louisville against some one who was harassing me. Three weeks later he set fire to my House and i lost everything. After he was released from prison he continued to harass me in the form of $800 Worth of unwanted Magazine subscriptions. The Only Way to Stop these nuts is by making their harassment hideously expensive. Our Laws should be strengthened to allow for heavy fines and notification of credit unions and employers. Money talks louder than paper. No one should have to go through what i did. Anonymous across the boar dear Anonymous i agree that punishment for serious kinds of harassment should be Swift and harsh. The problem is that you can t do a great Deal to one of those crazed devils until they act. The estranged Hus band who killed the judge in grand rapids is an Excel Lent example i Don t know of any solution to this prob Lem and would Welcome suggestions from anyone who cares to write. Dear Ann Landers the letter from the woman who got even with the Souriall postal worker made me laugh. The Souriall shoved the Stamps at her and they Slid onto the floor. The woman picked them up put her Money where the Stamps had landed and walked off without saying word. Here s my Story my sister and i were shopping with our three Young children at the local mall. We got our hamburgers and were headed toward a table in another area when suddenly i dropped my soft drink. I asked an employee who was wiping tables right next to me if she would please get a mop or let me use her Towel. The Young woman replied in a haughty tone the mess is on the mall s Side of the line and i Don Twork for the her attitude infuriated me. With my Tennis shoe i Slid the ice and most of the liquid three inches Over the other Side of the line. I then got up tapped the waitress on the shoulder and said now it s on your we left. San Jose mama dear mama i d say you won that one. Too bad you did t stick around Long enough to see the expression on her face. Los Angeles times syndicated columnist Landers welcomes your letters. You can write to her in care of the stars and stripes Apo 09211. . Sighted at bad Kreuz Nach Exchange recently while browsing through the record Racks at the bad Kreuz Nach Exchange i noticed that the Only other customer a music Section browser like myself seemed inordinately interested in the various disks i picked up pondered and replaced. Just some Nosy Guy i thought. I tried to ignore him. But there was something vaguely familiar about the Man. In his 50s, tall overweight with a receding hair line and a Gray flecked Beard wearing sunglasses he could have been anyone at All. And yet. Then he spoke. Yall come across any 50s Rock n Roll suddenly i knew. There was no mistaking that Smoky Mississippi drawl. I had t wasted my youth listening to hound dog Over a thousand times with out getting to know that voice at least As Well As i know my own. It was him the King. It was Elvis i said us take it easy Man he said. Catch your huh i replied. Yeah i know it s hard to believe but it s me All right. I m really sick of rap and heavy Metal. Don they Stock any of my old stuff but but i finally got out. What Are you doing Here i always wanted to see you live but this is some thing Well i won t go into All the details but the following is basically what i got straight from the lips of Elvis Presley first of course he in t dead. Like the tabloids have said he faked his death so he could fade into obscurity and enjoy a Normal life. The recent Elvis sightings in Georgia Kalamazoo and Las vegas really were Elvis sightings. He s been travelling. The body in the grave at Graceland Elvis said is really that of Liberace second he s now living in Germany. He said he liked it Here during his army stint Back in 58- 59 and he had always wanted to return. In fact he said he wishes he had made the army his career. He feels his music pretty much went downhill after his discharge anyway and that the discipline and camaraderie he found in the service might have kept him from sinking into the despair that drove him to drugs in the year preceding his faked death. Third he asked me not to Tell anyone about our conversation. But i told him hey Elvis Aaron i can t not share this. Your fans the faithful they need to after some persuading on my part he finally relented and gave his permission for me to divulge to the Public As much As i be written in this letter. He told me some other stuff too but asked me not to Tell. I mho Noring his wishes. What to make of All this it s simple. The King is healthy Happy and still with us.
