Federal Law the older americans act authorizes ombudsman programs in each state to investigate and act on complaints relating to nursing Homes. I would like to Point out to All acc providers and child development program staff that acc provide shave a Job. That Job is to provide Quality care for children. Quality care docs not mean subjecting these Tittle children to Long lines at the Bank commissary. Co or wherever else the acc provider is conducting personal business. Every Day i Sec these children obviously a group of children with their acc provider standing in lines being dragged through shopping areas or to laundry facilities so their provider can accomplish personal chores and errands. To All parents who have children in this program i would urge you to make sure your children arc being provided what they deserve developmental activities Good food appropriate rest and play times. That s what you arc paying for. To acc providers i would say you have a very important Job and you should schedule backup care givers for Bona fide emergencies doctor appointments or chores errands time. I you do not have the desire to provide Quality care for children and the organizational skills necessary to do this and run your own personal life then you should get another Type of Job. Lastly to cd management i would recommend you make it a policy that personal errands not be a part of the acc program and acc providers who arc not willing to endorse this policy should seek another Job. Ultimately of course it is the responsibility of parents to ensure their children arc getting Quality care not standing in Bank lines. So i encourage All parents to be aware of what happens to their child during the course of each Day and remove your child from any unsatisfactory situation As soon As possible. If providers Aren t meeting a parents expectations bring it to their Atten Tion right away. If that does t work talk to the acc director or the cd coordinator. Acc program expectations Are carefully discussed during a provider s orientation to the acc program. In addition there is a system for acc staff to Monitor the Quality of care provided and to offer training and support for the demanding work providers do. Daily parental involvement in partnership with acc providers is the key to Quality family child care. Applaud you for urging other parents to make sure their children arc gelling what they deserve.
