That gain sur passed the 87.50-Point surge during the week that ended Jan. 27. Among the broader Market averages the new York Stock Exchange composite Index added 4.97 Points to close the week at 198.74. Standard & poor s 500 Stock Index tacked on 9.63 to 358.78. Advances led declines 1,166-697 among the 2,150 issues traded. Big Board volume totalled 855,366,370 shares compared with 757,440,420 a week earlier and 833,283,430 a year ago. Analysts said investors brushed aside worries about the troubled junk Bond Market and some disappointing earnings forecasts and went on a buying spree that produced record highs in every session but monday s.
