What to say to some one who is really sick no guidelines for being a Good Friend can replace your own style says former cancer patient Georgia Photopulos but if you d like a few simple tips on How to talk to someone who is very sick Here they  1. Don t be afraid to ask me what i have How i m doing or what my treatment will be. At worst i la say i Don t want to discuss it. At Best. I la Welcome the Chance to talk about my problem. 2. You Don t know what to say what did we talk about before i became ill politics Art religion the Pat i m still interested. If you re a colleague let s talk about work. I d like to keep in touch. 3. Don t try to cheer me up by telling me things could be worse or i m Lucky my husband or wife has t left me or i could have been hit by a truck. It does t help. In fact forget about cheering me up. What i need most is a compassionate listener with a Good ear. 4. Don t assume that you know How i feel. If you really want to know ask me and i la Tell you. 5. If i look terrible Don t say you look  your lie will hang Between us and make me suspicious of everything else you say. It in t necessary to com ment on my looks. 6. Remember i chose my doctor and unless i Indi Cate otherwise i m probably satisfied with him or her. Please Don t bring me articles about other doctors hospitals or methods of treatment unless i ask you to. 7. Do bring Flowers books games whatever you think i might enjoy. Best of All bring yourself. Dear Ann Landers i m sure you be received Many responses to the let Ter signed getting depressed in  she was confused about whether to become a radiologist and make something of her life or forget about College and become a night attendant. Thank you Ann for your answer. Unfortunately most people seem 19 think of night attendants As Glori fied waiters and waitresses. Many flight attendants Are College graduates. 1 have a degree in computer  our numbers Are Law graduates business graduates and a Youns Man who is studying to become a geneticist. A mib of hmm Momii Mimm Flumm a Mimm my mandatory proper scooters suggested in the recent letter concerning dog owner s inconsiderate dog dumping habits the writer wonders Why people allow their dogs to dump in unauthorized areas and How we can Stop this practice. I share the writer s disgust and i have a suggestion. Cafes Sells proper scooters which Are two Long handles with a shovel and a Rake attached to each end. Poop scooping pet owners need not even Bend Over. They can maintain a 3-foot distance Between them selves and the menacing manure because of the Long handles. This proper scooper is designed so that the poop can easily and inconspicuously be carried to the nearest Legal depository. My suggestion is that anyone walking a pet be required to carry a proper scooper at All times unless of course the dog is vet certified As being permanently constipated. If a pet owner is seen without his proper scooper he is Given a warning ticket by a poop  the pet owner is caught a second time without his proper scooper he must either get rid of the dog move off base with the dog or perform mandatory weekend base poop scooping or poop patrol details. No i am not a dog hater. In fact i left my Beautiful beloved Golden retriever in the states with my family so As not to subject her to the cruelties for dogs of stairwell living. I do however hate walking with one Eye on my child and the other glued to the ground especially on the playground. With Christmas around the Corner i would like to say thanks to my two dads my father and my Stepfather. First to my father master sgt. James r. I know it was not always easy for him to leave his family or work the Long hours but he did it so we the new generation had a peaceful and free world to grow up in. Thanks dad my Stepfather sgt. Jason Kasten Sembach a West Germany love caring called As important As Faith i feel compelled to respond to the recent writer who stated that drugs arc just a symptom and the problem is Lack of  i agree that drugs arc a symptom for a widespread and deep lying problem but it in t Lack of Faith. It is More a Lack of caring and love from the persons around us. It is not enough to believe in god having Faith he will guide us through bad times. At times we All need the physical Comfort of a hug or a listening car from ones who care about our problems. Faith is certainly no guarantee for moral behaviour either. There Are enough teens raised with religion who do succumb to the temptation of drugs or girls who do engage in premature and unprotected sex and wind up pregnant. On the other hand there Are teens who pretty much grow up without any religion who Don t get themselves in trouble. The real problem is Lack of parental caring and at Tention. Too Many adults Are Only interested in Materi Al gain and end up in the rat race to buy More and bigger which leaves them minimal time for the family. Children need to be listened to. They need to be Able to confide in us but How Many of us parents make enough time to really listen in my opinion Lack of time to really listen to our children is the problem.
