And today Well Check out the motorcycle world championship picture. In formula one racing Marlboro is sponsoring the Mclaren Honda team which we rate As the strongest. And in motorcycling it s a Case of the same. This week Marlboro International officially announced its motorcycle lineup for 1990, an All american powerhouse deluxe. It s Marlboro team Roberts  and that Means King Kenny Roberts is manager and his Soock riders Are defending world Champion Eddie Lawson and runner up Wayne Rainey. All three Are Calico Means. While Lawson and Rainey will be leading the Soock charge Roberts protege John Kocinski of Little Rock ark., will concentrate on the 250cc class. Defending Champion in the 250cc division Isth Spanish rider Sito pops Honda but few would bet against Kocinski s winning this division in his first year out. He Rode in Only two 250cc races last year and won both before he was sidelined by injuries. Last season there were two Soock Yamaha teams Marlboro sponsoring the italian Giacomo Agostini s organization with Louisiana Freddie Spencer an Scotland s Niall Mackenzie Riding while Lucky strike sponsored the Roberts Yamaha team wit Rainey and Kevin Magee of Australia the riders. The Roberts team was the Superior one by far and for1990 it could prove a great one. Agostini meanwhile is out of the Soock run Butwill manage his Young countryman Luca Candalora Yamaha in the a soc championship class. The Agostini Candalora Effort will also be sponsored by Marlboro. Lawson s return to Yamaha he won three of his four Soock world titles on Marlboro Yamaha Bike comes As a Surprise of sorts As he is leaving rothmans Honda after winning the 500cc Crown for that Marque and spending Only one season there. Where to go this weekend the 58th running of the Monte Carlo rally gets under Way on Friday night from five cities with the West German Start set for bad Homburg just North of Frankfurt. The program on sunday begins at 2 30 . And ends about 6 . Both saturday and sunday races will feature 20 heats of four laps each with 16 of the world s to Cycle ice riders competing.
