A 70-Ycar-old Man in the Hospital for eight Days received a Bill for $8,000. The Hospital agreed to lower the Bill when it was brought to its attention that Many of the charges were for pregnancy tests. Charges for a prosthesis for my wife a fractured hip included $1,000 for a pacemaker. Both the doctor and the Hospital agreed that this charge was an error. It was removed from the Bill. Medicare however went ahead and paid the whole thing. When we informed medicare that they had this refund coming they thanked us but did not bother to ask for it. Medicare must be very Rich to throw away Money like that Are these rare occurrences or malicious rumours no they Are documented facts. One could fill a Book with outrageous examples of questionable and unethical conduct associated with our present health care system.
