We need rapid deployment forces for deserts and the tropics a says Schneider. Providing Quot eco Security will require a Complete reassessment of our National defense strategy she says. File rep. She has introduced legislation on such disparate environmental issues As global warming the loss of tropical forests the destruction of the stratospheric Ozone layer Ocean dumping Oil spills and hazardous wastes. Bills she has introduced to ban Ocean dumping encourage Energy efficiency by utilities and set Energy standards for Home appliances have become Law. On March 17, the National wildlife federation gave her its 1989 National conservation achievement award for legislation recognizing her Quot outstanding leadership on a variety of conservation and environmental  she now is lobbying the environmental Protection Agency to Institute a waste end fee that would encourage Industry to Recycle its wastes rather than dump them.
