As a teacher of some 25 years both in the United states and in dependent schools in Europe and Asia i could understand the writers concern if Corporal punishment were permitted in american schools. It is not. Should it happen and if it is brought to the attention of the authorities the teacher responsible is As they say a in deep  but the writer mentioned that she had a by chances watched the Oprah Winfrey show. This would indicate that she is not a regular viewer and is not aware that this program thrives on controversial topics to keep audience attention. As the writers son is Only 2 a it would be a Good idea if she would Contact the dependent school in her area and observe some of the classes. There is time to do this before her son starts school and it will help her to put the american teacher Pupil relationship in a More positive perspective. What concerns me most about the letter is the underlying anger at americans As a whole. Failing to do this perhaps it would be better for her to Send her son to a German school. What could be More dangerous and subversive than the censorship of ideas mrs. Gore and those of her ilk seem to think that All of us Are incapable of making rational decisions about what is right for us As individuals. They want to take the responsibility for our lives away from you and me. The doctor sent me to the Hospital for a stress test and an . I was at the Hospital for an hour and a half. The next Day my doctor called and said everything looked Fine. Of course i was relieved. The tightness and pain he said were due to stress. Ann i did t know what stress was until i received the Bills. The doctor charged me $350 for a 20-Minutc appointment. The Hospital Bill was $1,500 for a test that ran an hour and a half. The Bill from the doctor who read my  was $ 165. We do not have medical insurance because we can t afford it. For a family of four in our area it costs $600 every three months. We told the Hospital and doctor that we could pay $75 a month. They both said it Wasny to enough. They want to be paid in Lull. How do the insurance companies doctors and hospitals expect working people to come up with that kind of Money what do poor people do is getting sick and requiring medical attention Only for the wealthy what can people in this country do to get decent affordable medical attention and health insurance i told my husband that the next time i get sick. 1 will either stay at Home and get Well or die at Home. They said when tests Are done in a Hospital you should expect to pay about 50 percent More. They also said you were grossly overcharged. If you had had those tests in the office of a Chicago doctor the Bill would have looked something like this $200 for the Echo and $125 for a one hour physical assuming you were a new patient. There Are no easy solutions to this problem. It appears however that sooner or later Congress is going to come up with a National health insurance plan that will ensure coverage for everyone. Last night on to a woman who had been raped was interviewed. She is legally Blind and lives in Chicago. She identified the rapist by feeling his hands and face and enlisting her sense of smell. In spite of clinical evidence and identification of the rapist by the victim the defense kept asking Why she did not struggle. This line of questioning suggested that because the woman did no to fight her attacker she was a willing participant. Why is it that a woman must be severely beaten or killed before the Public believes she has been raped yet some authorities say the woman should not fight Back.
