Team wins Boeselager Competition by Steve Davis Ebern West Germany a an american team from the 1st so 11th army Cav regt in Fulda West Germany won the 11-nation 1990 Boeselager cup Competition edging out Turkey and Denmark. The five Day Competition hosted this year by the German army a 12th  in tested the reconnaissance skill physical performance and Esprit de corps of nato armoured reconnaissance units. It concluded Friday. Allied units competed against each other while 10 German units squared off in a separate Competition. American teams have won in the Allied category for the past three competitions two of which were won by units from the 11th army Cav regt. During Boeselager nato teams competed in skilled driving combat swimming marksmanship an obstacle course mounted reconnaissance threat identification Aerial reconnaissance and night orienteering. The 11th car team got off to a solid Start by taking second in skilled driving. The Crew mane Vered a Bradley fighting vehicle around or through 12 obstacles. The team did slower than expected during the combat swim placing fourth. It rebounded a bit during the marksmanship Competition placing second. After five of the eight events the Blackhorse regiments squad was in a tossup contest. But their serious mood turned to jubilation As the team placed first in threat identification.
