Does that mean that we done to rate paid officials last year their pay went Down from $10 a game to $7.50 a game. Now they want them to do it for free. I have never been an Umpire but i think its fair to say that they do deserve to be paid. Would you like to put with All the players coaches and fans who have graduated with honors from softball u., for free doubtful. What a a person to do without his sports thank you mar you have brought to a new Low. A sgt. Scott Cassio a sgt. Steven Cook Schwabish Hall West Germany editors note a James 1. Brown chief usar eur sports replies As we enter a new decade sports in Usa eur is also entering a new Era. The emphasis is shifting to on duty sports activities. This is a program organized and operated by the units on duty time. The goal of the program is 100 percent participation. Participation includes playing coaching and officiating. Soldiers Are being a a tasked to officiate the same As soldiers Are being a a tasked to play. To compensate these Soldier officials for their services is not authorized and not the intent of the program. The off duty program or what is locally called the company level program or recreation intramural sports program is organized and operated by Community recreation sports. Individuals Are Able to receive compensation for their officiating services if they Are in an Oft duty status. The maximum compensation fees Are established by Usa eur but there is no minimum. The actual fees paid Are based on funds available and priorities established by the individual communities. Schwabish Hall is currently paying officials for their services for the off duty sports program. They Are planning on continuing As Long As funds Are available. The on duty program in Schwabish Vilall is in the conceptual stage but when initiated the officiating will he part of the participation requirement. In summary the off duty sports program is a voluntary participation program. The off duty officials can be paid for their services. The on duty program is a required mandatory participation program.
