He won his third German grand prix in a Row he started from pole position he established a new qualifying Lap record and race record he regained the Lead for the 1990 world driving championship and with his German up Victory a the 24th of his career a he moved into a tic with Argentina a Juan Manuel Fangio As the most successful South american racing Driver of All time. A grand prix Driver simply can t do better than that on one weekend. Beginning with the opening practice and qualifying sessions on Friday it was obvious that the Mclaren Honda team was Back in top form and that barring mechanical ills Senna would turn Back the Ferrari Challenge on race Day. And that s what happened. During the race. Senna was always in charge even when behind for 17 Lapland neither Alain Prost of France nor englishman Nigel Mansell could do anything about it. It was clearly not Ferrari a Day. Even though Italy a Alessandro Nannini took Over the Lead after Senna pitted for tires it was obvious that Senna would eventually reel in Nannini and his Benetton Ford. It was Only a matter of time and the huge but unenthusiastic crowd was quite aware of it. Senna confirmed this after the race saying a i knew he Hadnot stopped for tires and i knew that his tires would eventually fade. So 1 wanted for my time and it  a a o. So it was a great Day for Senna but a Boring Day for the crowd because the race was strictly processional for the most part. If there were any passes made within the stadium area we missed them. What formula one grand prix racing sorely needs is a change in the Driver system. By that we mean a return to the Days when a team had a no. 1 Driver and a no. 2 Driver the no. 2 usually a Young Man on his Way up who knew where he stood. Under this system six or seven teams were in a position to win a race a at least from the Driver standpoint a and simply a Case of More top Drivers to go around. Today Alt of the Best Drivers Are paired on the same teams. This year out of nine races Senna and Prost have won four each and Riccardo pal Csc of Italy Wil Liams Ford has won one. It is simply a waste of Talent to have Nigel Mansell on the same team with Prost and Berger partnering  a a if a return were made to the no. 1 and 2 Driver setup there would be better racing and there would be far less politics and Driver quarrels. Two recent examples of bitter feuding within teams involved Senna and Prost at Mclaren and Mansell and brazils Nelson Piquet at Williams. The consequences of the current Prost Mansell lineup at Ferrari have already resulted in Mansells decision to retire. If Mansell had been the team Leader or no. 1 Driver at Ferrari he would be having a Good season and you can bet he would not have made a decision to retire.
