The permanent fund is a state Trust created by voters in 1976 to ensure alaskans Benefit from the states Oil wealth Long after the Oil is gone. It has saved 20 percent of the $33.2 billion in Oil taxes and royalties received by the state since the huge Prudhoe Bay Field went into production
