European Stars and Stripes (Newspaper) - November 24, 1990, Darmstadt, Hesse Saturday november 24, 1990 the stars and Stripe Sann Landers dear Ann Landers i have two Small children and a husband who works from 12 to 14 hours a Day. When he is off on the weekend he goes golfing with his friends. When he is at Home he is a a Busy Reading the paper and watching to. Ann i know he loves the kids but he does no to pay any attention to them. In be asked him to put the paper Down until they go to bed but he never does it. In a sad because i feel As though he is missing an important part of their lives and one Day he will regret it. Our children need a father who shows some interest in them. I done to know if i can Bear to watch him ignore these Lovely Little ones much longer. What can i do i am at the end of the line. Everything not of in Oklahoma dear Oklahoma you have hit on a problem that plagues millions of mothers. How sad that so Many fathers fail to realize that if they done to establish a caring relationship with their children Early it will never happen. When the children Are toilet trained civilized and interesting they will have no interest in i have seen this happen repeatedly and sad to say there is no Way to turn Back the clock. Dear Ann Landers i know that you frequently ask your readers to show consideration for others by not bringing Young children to weddings. Would you ask them also not to bring them to Art galleries and museums recently my husband and i travelled Over 1,000 Miles to see some Art exhibits in new York. Our trip was ruined by families with toddlers and babies. The smooth floors High ceilings and echoing Walls Are terrific amplifiers of childish shrieks hard shoes and squeaky pram wheels. No matter How adorable and smart a child is he or she cannot absorb Art through the skin by osmosis. An excited fidgety or overtired child of 3 is not learning anything about the French impressionists. Out of consideration for others Young children should be left at Home with a competent Sitter so others can enjoy the atmosphere of peace and concentration that galleries try to create. Please Tell them Ann. Kitchener ont. Dear Kitch you did and in a sure millions of americans and canadians will thank you. Dear Ann Landers the following advice is for All adult children who no longer live with their parents if you have any cherished mementos from your childhood stored in your parents Home reclaim them before it is too late. When people get on in years they frequently become forgetful. The Day May come when mom or dad no longer remembers whose belongings Are up in the attic or what they Are doing there. Sometimes they Are unaware that those items have any value either monetary or sentimental and throw them away or give them to Charity. Aging parents eventually die. If you Are not there to reclaim your belongings whoever is May have no Way of knowing that those items belonged to you and you will never see them again. In a writing this letter unfortunately after a sad experience. Perhaps it will help someone for whom it is not too late. Alaska dear Alaska most people would never give it a thought. Thanks for the tip. C creators Syndicate. A writers express views on patriotism r r m 1. A. Page 11 letters i failed to find any humor in the recent letter about patriotism. Patriotism is something that has enabled our t0 Surv be wars depressions and even the cold War. Am not a person who would stand up and say shoot me i want to die for my county a nobody wants to die for his county but i am willing to serve. I am not a mindless robot either because i do have reservations about my country. I just will not and cannot allow someone else to die so that i can be a a live jackal. I believe in Honor. If patriotism is supporting the ideas set Forth in the Constitution then How can the author of the letter Call any act of patriotism Claptrap each of us should be allowed our acts without being judged. Having a difference of opinion with someone Over what actually constitutes patriotism does not give anyone the right to judge. Does the writer feel americans go overboard when it comes to displays of patriotism we May do it differently than other countries but try going into any pub in Britain and bad mouthing the Queen. In a sure you will see my Point. I am not a warmonger. I was raised by my parents to have a sense of duty and nationalism. I am proud to be an american. A William j. North Hess Isch Oldendorf Germany you printed a letter with a a message for Flag the writer had a Point but Well Here is my message for non Flag burners. Are you proud to be an american do you think Flag burning is wrong do you drive a foreign car the above hypocrisy Check is intended to make the Point that plenty of americans gis included pay lip service to patriotism while damaging their country. Spending your Money on foreign products helps to increase our deficit cripple our Economy and throw the american taxpayers who pay our salaries out of work. You have no excuse for it. While i despise Flag burning torching old glory does far less damage than Selling out our country to foreign Competition. If americans would react to each others selfishness in buying goods from our economic enemies the Way they react to Flag burners wed accomplish much More toward the restoration of our economic strength. A Joyce Mccoy Bazan Wil Flecken Germany cafes service praised there have been so Many negative letters criticizing cafes in the past i thought id write to show How cafes does care about service members and their families. Recently while shopping at the Exchange at Rhein main a i discovered a bed comforter that i thought would be Ideal for my Home. Unfortunately i needed a Queen King size and the store was out of Stock at the time. Noticing How disappointed i was Pamela e. Brown a store supervisor came to my Rescue. I have never received such courteous and efficient service As i did that Day. She took my name and later that week went personally to the warehouse where shipments come in to look for the comforter.
