Goodman bases her argument on the premise that any school receiving Public funds cannot serve Only one segment of the population. Yet All of the nations 94 women a colleges receive both state and Federal funds. Studies have demonstrated the value of single sex education. Vii has produced leaders in business government and the military out of proportion to the less than 300 graduates it produces yearly. The school does not offer any educational opportunities that Are not available to women at one of Virginia a 37 coeducational schools. What it does offer however is the Opportunity for men to obtain a unique education in a single sex environment. Goodman Calls Vii an anachronism and compares it to the Jim Crow system of past decades. She completely misses the Point that what Vii offers is More than 150 years of tradition. Lest her intentions be misunderstood Goodman states a some traditions need honouring. Some need it is not the integration of women into Vii that she seeks it is the dismantlement of the Vii system. It would be a tragedy if Vii were altered simply because some perceive it As a bastion of male egotism. Such an act would Benefit no one. A 1st it. Bill Reagan Munich Germany thanks for vacation i just want to thank whoever it was at Usa eur who decided to let soldiers have free vacations at Berchtesgaden. My husband is an e-4 and we have two Young children. He did no to go to saudi Arabia but worked Many extra hours in Bremerhaven and Mannheim. And when the work there was done he came Home and worked 14-hour shifts. There were no thank yous or parades. When his platoon sergeant asked if wed like a free vacation we said yes. We had a wonderful time. Thank you. A Lenore e. Dimov Kaiserslautern Germany shocked and angry i cannot believe you published the article written by Patrick Mckenna in the sunday magazines a be our guest column june 23. 1 cannot find any humor whatsoever indie entire article. I am shocked and angry to think that anyone in charge of deciding which articles get published would allow this trash to get into print. Hatred and cruelty toward any animal is despicable and should in no Way be considered i think the writer and the sunday Magazine editor owe us All an apology for such hateful garbage. A Laura Talmadge Augsburg German wrong comparison 1 am writing in response to the letter on Quot Christian it truly saddens my heart that the writer could compare the resurrection of Christ Jesus to the sightings of Elvis. Webster defines mythology As an allegorical narrative. Common folks define allegory As having hidden spiritual meaning that transcends the literal sense of a sacred text. Most things in life Are never Clear to m"an7 How can someone compare Quot Jesus life of pain and suffering to cannibalism Druid Christmas Trees Chicks and bunnies Jesus gave Hope to Many people 2,000 years ago. Like Many of us today they refused to understand his most Basic teachings of the human condition. Perhaps these things were too much to ask of a people. But How Many of us would have Given our lives for a belief that preached love and Hope a sgt. 1st class James l. Such letters should be addressed to readers action line the stars and stripes Apo 09211-4211.go slowly on abortions this letter is in response to a recent attempt at lifting the abortion ban in military hospitals. This Issue raises Many questions. Who would determine the age limit for babies facing abortion Only 12 Short weeks after Conception the baby a heartbeat can be heard and hands and feet Are perfectly formed. Because of advances in modern technology the a Page of viability Quot is steadily decreasing. I recently read of a child who was 27 weeks in Uteri and 9.9 ounces at birth celebrating her second birthday. In Many states the 24-week, Saline abortion is common. Is this what they want for our hospitals second via ultrasound we can now see the tiny person who resides inside the mothers body. Would our hospitals ultrasound machines be used to show the Mother what she will be aborting after All she is being told its her a own body Quot or a just she has a right to be informed of All the facts does no to she i am not without compassion for the woman facing an unplanned pregnancy. If there is Money to spend Why not find ways to help the woman Cope with her pregnancy or provide More adoption services childless couples Are often on waiting lists for years to adopt Newborn babies while 1.6 million babies Are aborted in the United states every year. A Linda a Haskell Kaiserslautern German know full aids Story the opinion held by the writer of the letter a fight cancer first a shows an incredible Lack of knowledge. Does the writer of this letter consider babies who contracted aids from their letters to the editor mothers immoral what about people who have aids As a result of tainted blood from a transfusion what about people Whit were infected by a the tar Cate provider of health care providers who got aids from their patients what about All the a a moral people who got aids from a partner who was unfaithful to them or lied about their past sexual experience this list could go on. If everyone in the world were to live a moral life there would still be aids. Only a vaccine or a cure for the disease itself will make aids go away. A Nancy Deboer Rhein main a Germany air Force was great As i prepare to be medically retired i am compelled to share some thoughts. Departing the air Force Isnit easy. What amazes me most is the ignorance of my Brothers and Sisters in Blue. Many times after asking a valid question the response was a i done to it was left at that unless i pursued it. Questions ranged from what Are my entitlements what about my leave and what reference do you have if the emphasis were placed on customer service i believe the Correct answer would have been a sir or May am i done to know but if you a leave me your name and number ill research it and get Back to that hardly Ever happened. Ladies and gentlemen you re doing the air Force an injustice but More important you re doing a disservice to yourself. If just getting by and meeting minimum requirements is All you think is required Well you re in the wrong business. The next Point id like to leave you with is promotions. As the air Force gets smaller promotions will become tougher. When i was an airman first class a chief master sergeant of the air Force advised me to plan two. Stripes ahead. An airman should plan for senior airman an airman first class should plan for staff sergeant a staff for master Etc. The key is laying Down foundations required ahead of time so when the time comes to compete you re ready and qualified. He also told me to take care of my people a i did and they took care of me. Of thank you air Force. You be been Good to me. In a proud to have served you. A master sgt. Paul m. Scarantino Span Dahlem a Germany Bojo exemplifies . Around october of last year the world knew How a Little dog named Bojo was adopted by an american sergeant who had put his life family and country at stake in a Distant foreign land for the Benefit of Freedom. The sequel that you published june 13 shows the grandeur of heart that Many americans have. They will Stop at nothing to bring Comfort to Man or beast in need even if they have to a beg or borrow Quot to use master sgt.
