The Allman Brothers lost millions blaming their losses on then manager Phil Walden and Capricorn records. The record company went bankrupt before band members could collect. There were problems with substance abuse and a court Case in which band Leader Gregg Allman testified against the group s tour director for supplying him drugs. Tour manager Scooter herring went to jail and Albrrt amp a was alienated from the rest of the band. But it was the Allman Brothers earlier loss of guitarist Duane Allman who died in a motorcycle crash in 1971, and Bass player Berry Oakley who died the same Way a year later that set the stage for the , trucks said. Quot after Duane and Berry died we brought in some new Guys and there was always some pulling this Way and some pulling that  band stayed apart until asked by lbs records to Reform for its 20th anniversary in 1989, trucks said. It was then that the band hired Woody to fill the void on Bass and Warren Haynes who played guitar for guitarist Dickey Betts during the latter s Solo career. Newcomer Johnny Neel was hired for keyboards. Trucks said the band hired several Good musicians in the mid 70s to try to fill the void left by Allman and Oakley Quot but this is the first time since the very beginning that we be had Guys that have the same vision we do. There a absolutely no pulling left or right. We re going in the same direction 1 a a there a a lot More communication and intensity when we play now than there has been since the very beginning. And because of that i think we re playing better then Ever because we can Damn sure play better than we could in �?T69. Right now in a having More fun doing this than i have Ever. We Start playing Elizabeth Reed and i Start getting chill bumps. I Haven to done that in  trucks said the band hit the Road immediately after hiring Haynes and Woody Quot the record company Din to like that at All Quot he said. Quot with our history they Figuredo a go out split up in three weeks and they a never get a . But he said Quot we had to know it was going to work. We were not going to go in the studio and do another nostalgia trip and Compromise the name any further. After two or three months on the Road there was no doubt that this was happening this was something new. Haynes said it was logical for the band to tour Europe to promote its latest album shades of two worlds and to let. Those in Europe know that the band is Back and in full swing. The Allman Brothers band is touring Europe As part of a travelling festival headlined by the Beach boys and including the Little River band and Manfred Mann s Earth band. Quot we have a hard time playing it now the joke in rehearsal is we finally wrote a song we could t  Quot it sounds like the Allman Brothers but it has a Little Bee Boyish kind of feel in one Section of the song More of a latin feel in one Section of the song Quot Haynes added. Quot both Are Kinda combined with a strange Allman Brothers  maintaining some of the old blues roots the new album also contains a song members of the armed forces Are sure to pick up on trucks said. Quot it s called desert blues. It s a Little Kinda Tongue in Cheek  the song shows the lighter Side of a serious subject Haynes said. Quot sometimes you have to dwell on the positive Side of something even if you have to make it . Its Tongue in Cheek and its poking fun but there is a serious message in  despite the fact that the Allman Brothers Are considered the founding fathers of Southern Rock a Haynes and trucks realize they can to live in the past. That s what playing music is All about. I Don t think Southern Rock can be Southern Rock again. But i think there s definitely room Tor Southern music of All  Quot whatever it is i think there s room for Good new music whether it s trom the South or Butte Montana Quot trucks said. Quot because during the �?~80s, a lot of the Young players coming along the most talented ones rather than learning to play their instruments Learned to program computers. That seemed to be the wave of the future a drum machines and sequencing and All that stuff. But people got sick of listening to it. You had a big Gap Here where Young kids who should have been learning How to play never Learned. Quot now what i m hoping is going to come is a big wave of Young bands who take what we be done and add their a element to it to take it a step  As for the future of the Allman Brothers band he said the group plans to release a live album tour again and get Baculo the studio next Spring. Quot the music for that record will come out of the playing we do this year Quot trucks said. Quot Well Lake the new material and take that a step further for the next album.
