Just in the past few Days word about another chinese nuclear technology Transfer has been circulating in Washington but As far As i know has not yet been published. At the same time China is solemnly talking in Paris with other big Powers about controlling arms sales. Now no body in Washington would be unsophisticated enough to believe that the chinese will actually Stop dealing in the death Trade while they Are talking arms control. But what is flabby roasting is this the Bush administration is worried that it does not know the full Range of the secret chinese deals. The Beijing government routinely lies or Breaks its promises about such things. Nevertheless Bush fights like a Demon against legislation warning China that it will lose . This month the Senate will vote on legislation that would Cut off the privileges in a year unless the Beijing government stops arresting jailing and torturing its own people and tibetans stops harassing its citizens in the United states and stops exporting products of forced labor. Immigration policy was never so conspicuous As it was last week when the coast guard intercepted a rickety 45-foot Sailboat off the coast of Miami. Aboard were 161 haitian refugees and two cubans. The haitians were denied Asylum and shipped Back immediately. The cubans a ironically rescued from their raft by the haitians a were accepted As political refugees. Several Days later five haitian stowaways were found on a Honduras flagged ship reaching Miami. Deeming the five ineligible for entry the immigration and naturalization service ordered the ship to return them to Haiti. The Crew warned by the ins that it would be held responsible should the haitians escape before the ship left put them in chains and cages on the deck a at the Peak of a Miami summer. Horrified protesters reported this to the ins. The five were removed from the ship placed in ins custody then ordered deported. As the haitians were being loaded into a Van in route to deportation one went berserk. He jumped out and locked his hands onto the vans tailpipe. Heartbreaking videotape showed three ins officials non violently subduing the desperate screaming refugee. As that scene was taking place there was a happier occurrence going on elsewhere in Miami. At a Spanish language radio station a 25-year-old baseball player who had defected the Day before from cubans National team As it passed through Miami was holding a press conference and talking about the probability of his becoming a major league player. When he was asked his thoughts on the future of Fidel Castro and communism the Pitcher who left a wife and 8-year-old daughter in Cuba answered a a in a a ballplayer.
