I Don t wish to express my views on the abortion Issue but to criticize the manner in which people express their Points of View. I realize that protest is one of our inalienable rights and is a very effective Means of creating change but enough is enough. These protesters Are fighting for the right to life and Are abusing others rights to carry out these protests. Why can to they respect the rights of the people who wish to use this legalized clinic and the rights of the taxpayers who foot the Bill for Law enforcement when they Are arrested for disorderly conduct there were 300 people at one rally in Wichita kan., and 57 people were arrested. Done to these people have anything better to do than break the Law and create More problems in our world if they want to make the world better maybe they should go Plant a tree and leave Law abiding citizens alone. A airman 1st class Russel l. Goetz Ramstein Germany Germany greedy what a wrong with us we have Given everything to Germany since the War ended. Germans have rebuilt their country at our expense. We Are constantly giving them Money for bases. If we pull out of an area we have to pay millions for restitution. Now they Are renegotiating the status of forces agreement. How greedy can one nation be in my opinion its their Way of telling us to get out of their country. What a slap in the face after All we be done for them. We have our own Money problems and americans in the states who need our help and Money. Why Are we giving it to a country that is better off than most others friends done to dump on friends. A staff sgt. Ralph a. Fisher Karlstedt German painful conclusions congratulations Are due for your courage in publishing the los Angeles times Book review by Karen Stabiner sept. 1which appraised. James Bacques disturbing historical inquiry other losses. This critique seems either to have been one of several Short reviews written by Stabiner or it was severely abbreviated by your editors for reasons unknown. It is commendable that you mention the Book at All Given the Way that this pcs the helpless prisoners died miserably and apparently in Large numbers. Bacque also contends that . Records of pm numbers and status were clumsily falsified or sequestered. This Book is heavy going extensively footnoted and seemingly researched meticulously. I would encourage your readers to Purchase other losses As it becomes available in stars and stripes bookstores and to read it carefully. They May then reach their own conclusions As to the substance of the authors shocking charges. Again my compliments for encouraging historical inquiry by bringing this us pressed Book to the attention of your readers. Charles Hill Neu Briecke Germany a editor s note letters from readers expressing their viewpoints or opinions Are a blushed daily in this space. All Etters must be signed. We Reserve the right to edit letters for clarity length and taste. Preference is Given to Shorter letters so that More can be published in a timely manner. Letters should be addressed to letters to the editor the stars and stripes Apo 09211-4211. Too letters requesting information or assistance Are answered in a feature called readers action line which appears on Page 16 every Day except thursday and sunday. Such letters should be addressed to readers action line the stars and stripes Apo 09211-4211. Icon shattering liked by t research has been in Media elite and Stab spin sment academics. This latter group denies the Validity of Bacques inquiry but declines to refute its conclusions with persuasive evidence to the contrary. Those conclusions Are painful and unwelcome that the United states and France intentionally abused starved and denied shelter to perhaps 1 million German prisoners of War pm starting in May 1945. Barque attributes this vindictive and ultimately Homicidal mistreatment to a policy directed by Gen. Eisenhower reclassifying pcs As a disarmed enemy forces a thus removing them from the Protection of the Geneva conventions on pm treatment and denying them humanitarian attention of the International red Cross. To their credit our British allies refused to do the same and considered the reclassification unlawful. A senior British officer subsequently described the american pm enclosures As a worse than absent the safeguards provided to murdering animals i personally think it is really disgusting How some people treat animals. That article on the Pigeon shooting Hunt really shocked me. This is just an example of How cruel people really can be. Killing animals for sport is murder. And in no Way do i find this kind of activity a Way of celebrating the labor Day Holiday. I respect the right of people who kill for food even if 1 find this against my moral standards hut killing animals for sport come on people. Think about it. A Jennifer Hughes Lan Stuhl Germany a teaching patience interested in a career As a teacher after leaving the military according to Gen. Saint commander of Usa eur and an article published in the stars and stripes just Call from Germany ets 379-6059 or 6065. What you will get is a recording asking that you leave name address phone number qualifications and geographic area of preference. That is All that will happen. After calling this number twice i have received nothing. Since you Are Only dealing with a recording whom do you Call next with the help of a Friend we found that you can Call maj. Loni ets 379-7798 or 6115. After trying this number 1 found out what happens with the information that was provided on the recording. The information is sent to the department of the army which in turn sends it to the state or states that you Are interested in As Long As that state is a participant of this program. The state will then Send you a reply. This process can take several weeks so done to expect a Quick answer. It would be Nice to have been provided this information prior to calling a recording machine and waiting for weeks. I now understand the delay and letters to the editor will continue to wait a Little longer. A master sgt. Ronald e. My question is this Why Are adult programs such As Donahue and the Oprah Winfrey show being shown at 3 When the end of the school Day for elementary children is 2 .? in a perfect world there would be a Parent or an adult monitoring what children watch on television but in Many instances children Are at Home without adult supervision. Censorship no. Just move these shows to a time when the children Are in school. Appropriateness. Common sense. Please.
