A tailback Nikki Fisher and emergency starting quarterback Bobby Goodman helped Virginia overcome 10 penalties and a blocked punt to beat Navy 17-10 on saturday night. Goodman a Redshirt Junior who had never thrown a collegiate pass was pressed into his first Start because of a bruised throwing Elbow that kept Matt Blundin on the sidelines. Goodman fumbled twice and threw two interceptions but he also completed 11 of 18 passes for 119 Yards. Fisher had 106 of his 138 Rushing Yards in the second half and set up the decisive score that dropped Navy to 0-2. The Cavaliers 1-1 Shook off penalties for clipping and holding on an 80-Yard, 13-play drive in the third Quarter that put them ahead to stay. Goodman bailed the Cavaliers out of the first penalty with a 23-Yard pass to Terry Tomlin that put the Ball at the Navy 34. Four plays later a holding Call backed Virginia up to Navy a 35. But Fisher went 27 Yards up the Middle on the next play. He followed with a 7-Yard run before Goodman scored on a 1-Yard sneak that put Virginia ahead 17-Jo with 3 08 left in the third. Virginia was up 7-3 in the second Quarter when Navy a Kevin Mattix broke through the line and blocked de Garnos punt. The Ball rolled out of Bounds at the Cavaliers 11, and three plays later Brad Stramanak went 4 Yards up the Middle to put Navy ahead with 4 44 left. The midshipmen drove 68 Yards with the opening Kickoff and took a 3-0 Lead on Tim Rogers 35-Yard goal but Navy had trouble sustaining any  stun no. 5 Penn state los Angeles a the Southern Cal trojans coming off one of their worst games in recent years beat fifth ranked Penn state 21-10 on saturday a week after the Kittany Lions routed Cincinnati 81-0. The Kittany Lions 2-1 had t lost a regular season game since falling 19-14 to Southern Cal in the coliseum last year. Perry a 2-Yard scoring run on third and goal with 6 36 left to play gave the trojans an 11-Point pad after the Kittany Lions had closed to 14-10 in a game that was close almost All the Way. Perry completed 10 of 20 passes for 123 Yards and was intercepted twice by Lee Rubin. Perry also rushed for 52 Yards on 14 carries. His touchdown pass was a 7-yarder to tight end Yonnie Jackson Midway through the first Quarter. Penn state fumbled the Hall seven times losing two
