Meanwhile company officials denied reports that the suspect Elizabeth Teague had been fired one Day before the shootings for making unwelcome advances to a male co worker. A company spokesman said workers were trying to understand what prompted the a a senseless crime. Spokesman Patrick Farrell said Teague had been a an average employee in Good standing with the company. Teague 30, was arrested at 10 50 . Friday in Pittsburg just a few Miles from the Canadian Border police said. The arrest came about nine hours after Teague allegedly walked into the Plant in Bennington a to a where she was employed As an Industrial Engineer and began firing a 9mm pistol. Witnesses said Teague shot three men and a woman who apparently had been meeting in a conference room. The victims were taken to the southwestern Vermont medical Center in Bennington where Plant manager Jonathan Perryman was pronounced dead about 3 30 . Thomas Fuhr a maintenance supervisor and Patricia Masi a Secretary remained hospitalized saturday but their conditions had been upgraded to satisfactory a Hospital spokeswoman said. The fourth victim William Crittenden also a maintain Ance supervisor was grazed by one of the bullets. He was treated for a minor laceration and released. The shootings occurred about 30 minutes after police said Teague allegedly set a Small fire in another part of the Plant which employs 35s people in the southwestern Vermont Community of 10,000. Teague escaped in a car but was arrested in Pittsburg about 220 Miles from Bennington. Pittsburg police chief Richard Lapointe stopped l eague for speeding and took her into custody after recognizing her As the suspect in the Bennington shootings police said. Teague appeared in court saturday. She refused to return to Vermont to face charges in the shootings a Pittsburg police spokesman said. He said Teague would count inc to be held in the new Hampshire jail while Vermont authorities try to arrange for her return. Plant authorities denied reports that Teague had been fired recently. Published reports said Teague apparently had a a fatal attractions for a male co worker who spurned her advances. According to the reports the Man told associates Teague had been harassing him for months and finally he complained to a supervisor. Farrell the company spokesman said he had heard the reports but said l eague had not been fired and was in Good standing with the company where she had worked for almost two years.
