It was designed to attack enemy vessels but today has a revised Mission to guard the German Navy memorial an impressive Structure built to Honor those killed at sea. The submarine s original Mission ended in a norwegian port in 1945. It was badly damage clan an act of Friendship it was returned to Germany in 1905, restored and brought to its final resting place in 1975. The sub sits on a Sandy Beach at Laboe in Northern Germany. It is on the Edge of Kiel Bay where Waves washing in from the Baltic sea at High tide touch its dark sleek Hull.
