Between these self righteous Middle East watch clowns and the animal rights groups i find it difficult to get through even one edition of the stars and stripes without getting an itch on the Back of my neck. Reference the nov. 18 Issue with the front Page Story about the bad old americans not playing by the rules a rights group blasts allies for violating rules of War a. I wonder if this group said anything when Iraq invaded Kuwait reference any stars and stripes for the last couple of weeks. If any of the people who wrote in complaining about Hunting eat any kind of meat or fowl or fish then i think they Are hypocrites and should have no input on this subject. I am talking about real Hunting and not the illegal taking in whatever form of game. Dead is dead whether from a Hunters Bullet or however they Are killing cows this week in our nation s stockyards. A Mitch Duckworth Vaihinger Germany trashy ways in Erlanger i live in Ferris housing which now separates trash a a. On nov. 13 the German contractor looked inside that Green Bio can and left it behind. Why because certain folks think Glass cans and plastics arc biodegradable they re not. I personally sorted those items out of the waste. It was disgusting and it angered me that i had to do that when my a a neighbors received the same fliers i did explaining separation. I phoned and suggested stairwell or building coordinators should go door to door and explain separation asking parents who let their kids take trash out to make sure its done correctly. I even put signs on the Bio cans that read a food waste Only. No plastic even that did no to work. Then there is the trash that is piled up around the dumpsters. Not the trash that does t fit in the dumpster or the trash the collector leaves behind for some reason. Five picked up bags that someone was too weak or Small to lift. So to my neighbors who know who they Are i have watched your children play with the trash a which is now strewn across the lot. Do you know your kids play in garbage do you care i give up. I will no longer pick up or sort your trash for you. Let the garbage pile up for you to pick through this summer. The germans wont collect it. Pee Yoo you thought the bees were bad last summer and How about those rats trash separation Isnit for Germany a its for the planet. Maybe you done to care because you Quot wont be trash separation is for your child a future. Maybe you just done to care about your child. A car with three gis and a local National entered the Airfield. The owner of the vehicle a Corporal let one of the passengers drive his car. He Only wanted to take the local National Home. The vehicle was halted at the Gate because the Gate guard yelled for them to Stop on the Way in. The Gate guard was talking to the Driver then the vehicle started to pull away. The Gate guard ran around to the front of the vehicle and tried to Stop it. The Gate guard pulled the Driver out of the car. I recognized the vehicle As belonging to one of my soldiers. The Gate guard had called the maps by the time i reached the car. Once there i talked to the Soldier to see what was going on and could smell alcohol. The maps arrived did a Field sobriety test and arrested him. At the my station this individual refused to give a breath or blood test in accordance with the Usa eur implied consent Law. The commander was notified to allow the doctor to draw blood. While waiting the individual tried to escape i done to know where he thought he would go. With the blood test completed he was released to the commander. Here comes the Good part. The individual is being Given a summary court martial. The Corporal is getting a com Pany Grado article 15. If i am responsible for my soldiers on their time off i will require them to come to my House before and after they go anywhere. I mean How far do i have to go who is responsible for the younger soldiers on their off time a staff sgt. Albert r. Burgess Fulda Germany nominal niceties after Reading the recent letter titled a reverse perspective regarding the misunderstanding about the use of native american terms in team names i have to jump into the fray. The recent writer fantasizes about native americans coming to Europe and subsequently using european terms to name their sporting teams and asks us to understand How demeaning it would be to the europeans. We already have teams named for native europeans such As the celtics and the Vikings and their descendants Arentt complaining. And we have the pirates raiders and the buccaneers yet the descendants of the famous French pirate Jean Lafitte Haven to said a word about those teams perpetuating horrible stereotypes. Even god and satan done to appear to take offence at the use of names such As the saints deacons Blue devils Diab los or demons. All team names Are Given in Honor of envied characteristics of the group whose name is used. We done to have for example the san Diego Slimy sea slugs the Pittsburgh parasites or the Denver dirty dumpsters. Names like braves chiefs warriors and seminoles commemorate and Honor the bravery and skills of our native americans. No insult is intended nor should any be taken. I think native americans should lighten up a bit and accept the Honor and favourable publicity just As groups like the 49ers, packers 76ers and steel ers have. A it. Col. David j. Eckberg Stuttgart Germany 2nd amendment vital i would like to respond to the author of a kill 2nd his letter states that the second amendment to the Constitution is a outdated Quot and a should be it infuriates me to think How Many of our forefathers fought and died to give us the Opportunity to live in a free society with our rights guaranteed by the Constitution and then read letters from people wanting to a a repeal or rewrite portions of the Bill of rights. The second amendment goes far beyond simple self defense. It is an integral part of the checks and balances in our government. It applies not Only to an organized militia but also to the common Man As Well. It is there to give the Ordinary citizen the Means to regain his Freedom should the government become too oppressive. Historically the first thing any tyrannical government does is disarm its citizens. This makes them easier to control. Once disarmed they become a society of victims who can be exploited at will.
