Postal history is what comes in tomorrow s mail. For example Apo letters even from the 1960s and 70s, cancelled on the first and last Days of a Post offices operation regularly sell for $50 and More in auctions. With a draw Downs Quot upon us this is an Era of a last Day Apo mail sent without Stamps under maps or marked com or Naf etc., is highly sought after for specially items. Stateside collectors have no Opportunity to get this material a they need to either a know somebody in the forces overseas or pay High prices. Letters franked at Apos with penalty mail Stamps Are rare a especially when unusual denominations Are used a and the empty envelopes bring a big Bucks Quot stateside. This solicitation for Stamps is unusual in that it is so selective a conceived to provide for the arrival of a a Good material that can be sorted out and kept for resale with Only the relatively useless being sent on. I have never seen a stamp Charity that asked for Only certain specially material like this. At least one person named in the article is a known philatelists and the published list says loud and Clear to the initiated that those involved in this project know what they Are doing. High value Charity donations can result in income tax benefits for donors. The red Cross and Stamps for tots among others in the stamp donation business take anything they can get a including cancelled . Stamps. They provide irs recognized receipts too. Anyone interested in determining the value of their Stamps or in Selling them through auction can write to me at . Box 523, Apo 09090. Ill be Happy to provide names of licensed . Appraisers and respected specially auction houses. A Leonard a. Nadybal Germany Ivd up with Congress four years ago you printed a letter i wrote decrying the continued deficit spending by Congress. I predicted that unless the president balanced spending Bills by eliminating wasteful nonproductive expenditures through the use of the line Iteni veto we would see Large cuts in military spending followed by a collapse of our Economy. Well in a not one to say ?o1 told you so a a but not Only Are the cracks visible they re widening fast and the Walls about to fall. The one mistake 1 did make was to urge people to write their congressmen requesting that they authorize the president the use of the line item veto. What a joke. Congress voting its members a huge pay raise in the face of great Public indignation and outrage the savings and loan crisis brought on by relaxing banking regulations that enabled lawmakers big Campaign contributing buddies to get Rich Quick ultimately at the Public expense the Thomas confirmation hearings in addition to lawmakers continuing to spend our nation into a quagmire of debt a All this has convinced me that Congress is living in a fairy tale never never land. As our Economy and our nation fall apart because of their actions they continue to merrily play the Beltway big shots oblivious to reality. The Only solution i now see to stave off the coming economic disaster is for the president to take the initiative and just do it. Exercise the line item veto and balance the budget. He should even create a surplus and Start paying off the National debt. Our Constitution can be interpreted to read that the president does have the authority to exercise the line item veto. In article i Section 7, a every order Resolution or vote to which the concurrence of the Senate and House of representatives May be necessary except on a question of adjournment shall be presented to the president of the United states and before the same shall take effect shall be approved by him or being disapproved by him so once again i m urging people to write not to their congressmen this time but the president himself requesting that he balance the budget through his constitutional authority. First of All we Are talking about punishing our children discipline is the rules we live by. Punishment is what happens when we break the rules. We done to discipline our children when we hit them we punish them. How would you tee i if someone hit you would you be angry Hurt would you want to seek revenge our children Are people. That is exactly How they feel when we hit them. How Many of you who hit your children then take the time to explain Why you hit them and what behaviour you expect to see in the future if you can do that Why hit your children in the first place because it is much easier than taking the time to do it right. One writer stated that different forms of punishment work for different people. She then went on to mention two timeout and restrictions. Do you realize there Are More than 20 different punishment techniques to utilize not counting hitting ? the writer also expressed indignation that someone else would dare to Tell her what she can or cannot do to her children. That is exactly what parents who abuse their children say. Know because my Job entails working with Domestic violence every to the editor i am not sure where that writer Learned to be a Parent most Likely from her own role models her parents and from society. We Are not taught How to Parent in school. It is left for us to pick it up on our own. I cannot understand Why she seemed so upset that someone else might have a better Way to Parent children. Docs she know everything there is to know about being a Parent Why be so closed to new ideas on such an important subject i have taught Many parenting classes. In almost every Case when parents diligently Learned new techniques and used them consistently they found that hitting was not necessary. Unfortunately learning to do something differently requires a change and that is scary to Many people. They would rather continue to do something they know even if it is wrong or harmful than change. I know Many of us say that we were hit As children and that we turned out Fine. Done to we want More for our children if we can teach them that violence is not necessary spanking hitting is violence Only a level of degree is the difference Between spanking and abusing and that they can solve problems without hitting others one of the things that spanking teaches is that there arc times when it is acceptable to hit others especially if it is someone we love Isnit it Worth it it seems to me violence is rampant in society today. I think we should do everything we can to teach people that violence is an unacceptable Way to solve problems starting with our children. Glen p. Corlin Hanau German seeking background. I am very aware of where i am now but i also want to know where my ancestors came from just like people of italian German and Irish origin to name a few would like to know about their history. I think that the writer is very afraid to admit that if More african americans traced their history and found out that they Are descendants of Royalty and not the stereotypic Savages that most of America depicts africans As More of the race would begin to uplift themselves and Stop taking a Back Seal to these types of comments. I have been doing for America but when i turn on the to i see . Beating the hell out of a Black Man and getting away with it or i see David Duke running for president. At times like this 1 can to see How one claims to be proud of this country. Granted the United states has its advantages. That is Why i have the ability to write this letter without having my House bombed. Omark. Ali Munich Germany pen pals we Are very lonely and we would like to have pen from All Over the world.
