There still will be some Winter sports interest on March 14, because that is the deadline for the coaches to submit their All Europe basketball nominations. The big schools launch their soccer campaigns the next week and the track and Field athletes make their debuts and efforts for stars and stripes Honor Roll recognition commencing March 28. The Spring break comes very Early too. Over the years with an exception now and then it has been customary to be out of school from Good Friday until the second monday after easter. This year Spring break begins on saturday april 4 and ends monday april 13. Easter Isnit until april 19 a and soccer and track amp Field Competition resume april 18, when the gymnasts who of course compete indoors finaly unveil their repertoires. The Spring activity continues through May 23, when the Central european track amp Field gymnastics soccer champions will be  a a but meanwhile Winter sports continues to rocket along helter shelter. The Lions Are expected to make it one More when they compete against Augsburg in saturdays Competition at Kaiserslautern. Werner who won the 1988 112 and 1989 119-Pound Central european wrestling championships and compiled a 42-0 record while competing for Wurzburg High school is a mainstay on the air Force Academy team. He has posted a 16-6 record so far this year finishing second in the Colorado open and fifth in the Oklahoma open in the 126-Pound category. Werner has been named to the wac academic team in both his freshman and Sophomore seasons and currently carries a 3.06 spa in a science curriculum. Ryall Bill a daughter and the 1988-89 stars and stripes athlete of the year is playing some excellent Tennis at Purdue. She also like Werner is an outstanding student carrying a 3.56 spa. She recently was selected to the big 10 Scholastic All conference team for Tennis and was declared scholar athlete at Purdue. Its great to see those outstanding Dodds Stu Dent athletes go on to greater achievements. The stars and Stripe hoosiers notch 12th straight Victory by United press International Bloomington ind. A Michigan a heralded freshmen class received its latest big ten baptism Indiana style tuesday night. Damon Bailey and Calbert Cheaney scored 22 Points apiece and no. 4 Indiana recorded its 12th straight Victory an 89-74 Triumph Over no. 16 Michigan. The hoosiers whose last loss came against no. 8 Kentucky on dec. 7, improved to 14-2 Overall and 5-0 in the big ten. Freshman Juwan Howard scored a career High 26 Points and Michael Talley added 15 for the wolverines who dropped to 10-4 Overall and 2-3 in the big ten. Michigan 0-3 on the Road in league play had several players in foul trouble throughout the second half including freshman Chris Webbe who fouled out with 8 Points. Indiana held a huge advantage from the foul line outscoring Michigan 33 to 14. Howard then rallied the wolverines again capping a lb-3 burst with a 3-Point play and Michigan trailed 73-70 with 5 01 to go. But Indiana withstood the comeback by scoring 6 straight Points to go up 79-70 and Michigan could get no closer than 7 the rest of the Way. In other games tuesday night no. 1 Duke 95, Boston u. 85 Boston a Christian laettner scored 25 Points and the Blue devils 13-0, extended the nations longest winning Streak to 19 games.
