Alzado Dies of brain cancer Portland Ore. Apr Lyle Alzado the former All pro lineman who blamed steroid use for his brain cancer died thursday. He was 43. Alzado played for the Denver Broncos Cleveland Browns and los Angeles raiders. He retired from football in 1985 and began an acting career. Alzado died at his Portland Home. His wife Kathy was at his Side. He had been undergoing chemotherapy at the Oregon health sciences University Hospital in Portland.
