Reader response was extremely rewarding and i have reprinted it each year with topical modifications. This is my Christmas message for 1992 dear readers today is Christmas. What has happened to peace on Earth Good will toward men in Many parts of the world there is no peace and in the hearts of Many men there is nothing that could pass for Good will. Ann Landers our youth insist that we Are poisoning the environment and they Are right. They resent living in a world they did no to make and who can blame them but what generation Ever made the world it had to live in although our universities Are once again places of higher learning racism abounds on Many campuses across the country. Prejudice against Young minorities is on the increase and i fear its going to get worse before it gets better. As John Underwood wrote so eloquently in the Boston Globe a while Back a civilizations do not give out they give in. In a society where anything goes eventually everything every Day we All must make decisions that determine the direction in which our lives will move. No one no matter How Wise can make the right decision every time. To err is no disgrace. The disgrace lies in not learning from our mistakes picking ourselves up dusting ourselves off and trying again. Because this is an advice column 1 spend the greater part of every Day with grief and trouble. Does it depress me no it does not. After 37 years i still find writing this column immensely rewarding. 1 realize that Many people who write to me done to want advice. They just need someone who will listen. My column has provided me with an Opportunity to Shine a spotlight on ignorance and fear to Comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. This is a belated but Heartfelt thank you because my son saw that column and he made the decision to Contact the registry to find his birth Mother. At approximately the same time i registered embarking on the journey to find the son i had placed for adoption 22 years before. I had anticipated a very lengthy dear Abby perhaps futile wait when i sent off that registration form. It was actually Only four months from the time my son registered until that wonderful Day when i received a phone Call from the registry a your wait is Over we be found your my son and i were reunited on aug. 5, 1990. My life was made whole on that Day. Since that time we Liavine developed a close Loving relationship. The added Blessing is that he has two wonderful parents who have been totally supportive in our relationship. We Are now an quibble extended blended family and i believe our lives Are All Richer for it. I am certain that it was gods plan that my son and i would be reunited.
