Guy Hunt indicted by a grand jury monday on charges of taking $200,000 from his inaugural fund for personal use vowed to fight the charges and serve the remaining two years of his term. The Republican is the eighth governor this Century to be indicted while in office. The 13-count felony indictment included charges of theft conspiracy and ethics violations. It said Hunt conspired with his inaugural fund accountant Gene Mckenzie and two former aides. The grand jury said it had returned four indictments but information on the others was not immediately available. An attorney for Mckenzie said the accountant also had been indicted but did no to have details of the charges. Hunt went to the Montgomery county jail on monday to be booked and fingerprinted.
